Hard Mattress in new Bailey Phoenix 640 SE

I bought a new Bailey Pheonix 640 SE in March 2019 from Lowdhams, and to be honest the mattress is rock hard to the point that both my wife and myself wake up with lack of blood circulation in our Arms and/or our Legs.
I reported it to the retailer Lowdhams who have the caravan right now, and have been pushed around for weeks between Lowdhams, Bailey and Leisure Furnishings who supplied the mattress. Unlike when you buy a car the dealer does not take ownership of the issue on be half of the customer that they contracted with.
To date nobody qualified has checked the specification or compared with another item
Have any members had similar issues and how did you get it resolved?

The problem is everyone is going to have a personal view on what constitutes a hard or more correctly a firm mattress. My last Bailey motorhome had a double fixed bed and on that I found the mattress fairly soft but then at home all our mattresses are on the firm side of the scale. I suspect most advice will be around the purchase of a mattress topper which will probably make it more comfortable for you to sleep on if you are used to sleeping on a softer mattress. Finding resolution via the dealer or Bailey might depend on whether they use a variety of mattress firmness in different vans.

Remember if you add a topper, certainly a "memory-foam" type that depending on quality can take a sizable bite from your user payload.
Even a medium one has a density of 4 to 5 lbs per cubic foot so a 6' x 4' x 2" will weigh 16 to 20 Lbs, 9 odd kgs.

I had the opposite problem with our, then, new Barcelona - in that the seat cushions were too soft and after a week away, they had virtually flattened. (I note that the new Baileys have interior spring cushions). After discussing it with out dealer (who was most sympathetic and helpful) I came to the conclusion that we were only ever going to get a 'like-for-like' replacement and potentially a lot of hassle in between.
I bit the bullet and paid a caravan upholsterer to re-fill the cushions with what we, rather than Bailey, wanted - and the problem was solved.
Although it may not be what you want to hear - at least that approach would solve your problem - and quickly.

The seller (dealer) has the responsibility whether it is a car, van or any other product. That’s the Law.
Our experience with caravan/motorhome fixed beds and upholstered seats is that we would not contemplate sleeping on them without a memory foam topper or Duvalay. Having said that, we were much more tolerant when younger!
