Non members booking pitches
We have just recently returned from several touring holidays in Dorset ,South Devon / Cornwall. North Cornwall / Devon and finally south Wales. On general we thoroughly enjoyed the sites we stayed at but we were becoming aware of the fact it was getting difficult to book pitches as they were full or close to full. On questioning the wardens why it was so difficult, it was mentioned between the lines that they had a few non members who had booked pitches, but this seemed to be justified as they have to pay more money for the privilege. On one of the sites it was noted that there were lots of young children riding their bikes or scooters along the site roads including down hill, going fast and there would have been no way they could have avoided a car or unit coming the other way. Also the cleanliness of the site including the usually spotless toilet facilities were not good. I'm not going to blame the hard working wardens, but the people who stay on site and allow this to happen. I appreciate the fact it cost money to keep and update the sites and revenue needs to be there to pay for these ,however could this be a cause why people are leaving the club for other clubs , or why pay for a membership.
Another experience we had and did report to the warden ,we had a knock on the motorhome door around 9am to ask if it was alright for them to put their electric cable on my pitch number as they were already waiting to come onto site. WTF. it was not a young couple either Unfortunately for them we left just before our allotted time of midday. Come on Club members, you know who you are don't spoil it for the rest of us.
I will be keeping an eye on these maters.

You’ve raised numerous points but I’ll just say that sometimes it’s a local authority condition that non-members are accepted on certain sites so it's outwith the club's control. Non-members, though, cannot use the online booking system and I suspect the actual numbers booking sites at £12 p/n extra are very small.
In August in popular areas it’s always likely to be difficult to get a pitch which is why it pays to book in advance.

Oh dear, yesterday we were told of gypsies at Bridlington and now it's non members somewhere in Devon - with children too. That must have been the last straw. So yes, keep an eye on it.

Yep, one eye on the maters, the other on the paters. Providing of course both are there.
Cornish Club Sites were chock full in Summer 20 years ago, it’s why we started using CLs down there. I was never bothered enough to find out the personal circumstances of those visiting (member, non member, number of children, marital status, blood group etc...) more concerned with our own holiday and enjoying it.

I think I was confusing site booking with viewing full CL details which is not available to non-members.

I always understood the non members supplemental payments was £12pounds sterling extra per night.
Like David said 4 nights pay for membership for 365 days/nights a year , are non members made of money.

children on bikes and scooters having fun hope they was not laughing out load as well what ever next as a old song children are the future maybe we can get the club to change the rules and parents should have them on a lead while on sites all this rubbish about being hit by a car if they were travelling at 5 mph not much harm could be done it seams to me a lot of members would like adult only club we love to see children enjoying themselves

I don’t know of any member who wants an adult only club, CM. On the contrary, most of us realise that youngsters are the future of the club.
Incidentally, a child on a bike/scooter doing in excess of 5mph meeting a car coming the other way at 5mph equals a collision of 10+ mph. Not nice!
