Site recommendation
Hi there
Looking for a site just for one night in December for our wedding anniversary.
We want somewhere within an hour or so of Bolton so maybe the Lakes or The Yorkshire Dales where we are within walking distance of a couple of nice pubs and somewhere to get a nice meal?
Any recommendations?
Thanks

I would be in the doghouse if I offered my wife one night on a caravan site in December to celebrate a wedding anniversary - see what she thinks to a night at the Mortal Man hotel at Troutbeck up above Windermere - does she like the idea of food, drinks and big fires in tne bar?

There are plenty of pubs within walking distance of Chester Fairoaks but they are all chain ones so are probably no good. The C&CC sites at Keswick let you walk into the town centre and there is a good choice there.
York Rowntree Park, if you can get in, is in the city centre and there is plenty of good restaurants to suit all pockets there.

Wharfedale has lovely walks. There's a pub/restaurant which serves good food, adjacent to the club site, along with a leisure club with pool which you can pay to get a day pass. There's also several eateries in the surrounding villages, particularly Grassington and Burnsall.

With the user name, presumably to commemorate a "menage a trois"

Hawes would fit the bill nicely, however over an hour away. You could arrive as early as possible, have a look in the nearby Museum and the little town, back to van for a spruce up, then dine in one of pubs in town. Sorry no recommendations for eateries, but easy enough to check out what you might fancy. Easy level walk into town, around 400 metres.

As others have mentioned the club site at Chester is great and the pub just outside the gate The Rake is very good and does nice meals at a reasonable price also the outlet is just across the road. The C&CC club site at Keswick is also very good and only a 5 min walk from the town where there are plenty of things to do I would recommend the Bank Tavern for a pint and a meal excellent food and a good atmosphere.

Ha love this! I'm the wife actually! LOL. We haven't had the camper van that long and we have only been away in it with our daughter, so its a good excuse to go away without her!

Many sites might be closed in December, Troutbeck head is open till January, 15 miles from M6, a good pub close(ish) by and the Mill Inn at Mungrisdale has an excellent reputation.

Does it have to be a club site, as there are bound to be many CLs open at that time of the yer that would suit your requirements. Just select a location of your choice and someone will certainly be able to suggest a CL or two.

Thanks I've just booked the Hawes Caravan Club Site as like you say (take the dog along) it looks like it ticks all the boxes for us.
Also looked at the York Rowntree Park Caravan Club Site but it's booked up for months with the odd week day here and there.
Thanks for all the replies and advice, happy with my choice now. :-)
