Mystery switch in battery locker roof.

Hi,

Could anyone definitively tell me what this switch is for in the roof of the outside battery locker on my 2017 Bailey Jive 570/6 (Pursuit 2).

It looks to be factory fitted as it's the same as the internal switches and I don't think it's for the motor mover which works regardless of whether the switch is off or on.

    Not for the motor mover as not heavy enough.

    I doubt it's factory fit. Maybe a light some where 🤔 Maybe for a fan to draw air over the back of the fridge 🤔 Can you trace the wiring inside the caravan to give a clue.

    Easiest thing to do would be to trace the wiring from the other side of the switch and see where it goes. Presumably this is accessible from under a bench seat.

    I wondered if a switch for outside light on battery box side. I doubt it is original but I don't have that make

    The switch is identical to all of the factory fitted interior light switches but this is the only switch like this on the exterior of the caravan that I can see.

    The awning light has it's own switch on the inside of the door beside the control panel.

    I'll see if it's visible from under the bench seat.

     Look on eBay .... it's a generic on/off switch that is the same as Bailey used elsewhere on your caravan. ☺

    A switch for a tracking device? Not that well hidden I know but just a thought.

    Probably not as it's not a Bailey tracker that's on the caravan and like you say it would be a stupid place to fit a tracker switch for it.

    I know .... you suggested that as the switch was the same as elsewhere on your caravan that what ever it switches would likely be factory fit. I suggested that as the same switch could be bought from anywhere that it had been added by the previous owner for whatever. 

    Follow the wires inside the caravan  ..... good luck😎

    Just a thought as I had a van with a rocker switch for a tracker situated in a similar stupid place. Don't rule it out quite yet!

    Search for 'caravan rocker switch'and the style shown in the locker is the same as first google hits. Available in most accesory shops

    Looks like the switch to activate a Phantom tracker unit

    we have one the same but it is fitted in one of the overhead lockers 

    You don't say how your van is it could be fitted as an aftermarket unit

    Possibly  " How Old your van is " although you do say in your OP its a 2017 jobbie.

    The van is a special from Ropers of Catterick. They are usually helpful so I would give them a ring.

    I can see the wiring fom the mystery switch comes into the area underneath the front seat near the main loom but it disappears behind some panelling

    It looks as though it is a tracker from that description, although why you were not told about it when you bought the caravan is odd as it would be a selling point.

    Maybe the original owner didn't tell the dealer they traded it in with and I bought it from.

    phantom trackers are not transferable between van owners also the previous owner may not have renewed the subs for the tracker it cost about £99.for an annual sub but cheaper if you renew for 2 or 5 yrs 

    you could check with Phantom to see if they have any record of any unit being fitted to the van The tracker unit is about the size of a box of matches and should site some where out of sight

    Just a thought could it be the switched link on/off to the motormover control unit inside the caravan.

    The main power switch (red) battery  to motormover is below.

    Certainly if the battery is left connected then the mover control unit can be isolated when in storage saving power.

    As mentioned it may be there for the same reason on a tracker.

    It's not the motor mover as that works regardless of whether the switch is on or off.

    I agree wirh the other reply it'll probably be the tracker

    Why not ask the dealer to contact the previous owner and ask them what it's for and then give you a call.
