Dealer refund for damp caravan
Hi
just looking to see if anyone else has been in this situation and what the outcome was.
i purchased a second hand caravan from a dealer in Scotland where I live some months ago. The caravan was not washed and not cleaned in the inside but I never thought anything of it as it was my first caravan. Obviously slightly miffed that the dealer hadn’t washed it etc.
3 months later I decide that it’s not big enough for my family and take it to another dealer for a trade in. They find damp levels of 38-40 on the back due to a big crack on the roof.
The original dealer had given me a 6 month warranty so I wasn’t overly concerned. Anyway, the new dealer said it would cost around £2000 all in to rectify this.
The original dealer said she would take the caravan back and give a full refund as the caravan wasn’t big enough for us (rather than repair and hand back).
So we didn’t go ahead with the trade in but returned the van to the original dealer.
I paid £2000 deposit on my MasterCard and the rest was financed through Black Horse for the van.
The dealer has said she refunded everything a week Thursday past but still no settlement of black horse account and my refund to MasterCard.
She has had the caravan back for 2 weeks now and this is all holding up the purchase of our new van of which we put down a deposit on.
Ive finally been told today that she paid by cheque a week past Thursday after she led me to believe it was via bacs. After daily calls to Blackhorse they say it can take 10 working days for a cheque to clear and I will have to wait.
surely my refund on my MasterCard would have cleared by now?....

Here’s me thinking if I buy a caravan from a dealer then it’s all been checked! Silly me lol.
the new dealer is carrying out a moisture check on the new van because of the trouble I’ve had.
thanks, I will leave it until next week and then hopefully.......
