Surprising Late Availability

Ever thorough(sic) you should be a little more subtle with your insults, David?

Not been to Asda much since we lost our discount card.OH hadn't worked long enough to keep it for life.☹️ However, being friendly to customers was always top of the agenda. At one time they even had greeters at the doors, she quite liked that roll.😀

Not entirely sure what Asda has to do with late availability but i've never had a problem with their staff at the automated filling station, then again i've never had a problem with the club wardens. To my mind most of the folk who criticise the staff are the transgressors. The next club site we are staying on will be Rookesbury at the end of our over there trip so out of high season

I am guessing, due to adverse weather forecast for this week-end, that there may have also been cancellations since harryb’s post (Posted on 05/08/2019 09:38)creating more availability.

Well, we are 'seniors' and we never go to sites during the school holidays if we can help it, not being 'stuffy' just been there and done that, and like peace and quiet now. We do not go to sites with Cafe's or Swimming pools. Thank goodness the Club STILL manages to cater for Families with the likes of Hillhead,Seacroft and Looe. Perhaps the spare capacity is BECAUSE the 'oldies' are staying home for a while ? Come September we'll be touring around the UK again.

Given the forecasts for torrential rain in places tomorrow and gales on Saturday I think some folk might, wisely in my view, delay setting off on long breaks and, of curse, probably scrapping weekend plans all together.
A great shame for organisers of events like the Bristol Balloon Festival and the Boardmasters Music Festival at Newquay. But common sense should always prevail. .

Not sure about this comparison of caravan sites and supermarkets. Certainly, I have never had to queue to go through the checkouts because everyone was waiting for the staff to finish cleaning the toilets.

Just been into my local asda. Went to the customer service desk and asked to the what late availability we have this weekend. The guy just gave me a blank look and said he didn't know what I was talking about! I tell ya, what sort of customer service is that eh?
More seriously, there's five local sites I used on my rest days and this week they are all only two thirds full. Who knows?

This site was showing 77 pitches out of 211 for this friday available on monday it today is showing 63 available, and that is with the "dire"weather for Friday/Sat and would not class this as a site for holidays,so still going to be "busy" ,on a weekend that according to the site staff is normally quiet as next weekend normally is, before the long bank holiday last big rush before schools go back

I went into the site office once, asked
"How much is that Choc Ice"?
"£12.99" came the reply,
I did say once

In an actual attempt to answer the OP I put forward our own experiences.
Customer satisfaction will be a factor on the decision to return, linking it to this CMC statement.
https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/about-us/work-for-us/on-our-sites/
I feel this will form part of what will be many reasons as to the OP's observations.
Another factor in my opinion is the reduction in pension payments now that Stakeholder pensions are kicking in, and the Club do tend to attract the retired.
Yet another as I posted was the choice of accommodation, holiday cottages seem over the past 6 years to have multiplied with no real increase in cost over this period.
Yet another is, and this is in plain sight, members going abroad, the rise in Motorhome ownership I suggest making this now a viable alternative for those not comfortable towing.

It certainly makes life easier for touring over there. I think you can add the fact that most touring motorhomes are unlikely to pay £30p.n. for a night stop or very short stay, I know I won't. I use CLs CSs or the low facility sites.

I'm a bit puzzled by this "customer satisfaction" thing on sites, at least as far as interacting with site wardens is concerned. At (both) club sites we check in, let them know our pitch choice and that's about it apart from a "good morning" if we pass them walking the dogs first thing.Otherwise I don't feel the need to be specially cosseted.
CLs/CLs are a different thing - quite happy to spend time chatting to owners particularly milking their local knowledge.

As far is interaction an example.
We are I'm guessing fairly typical, we arrive, Michelle books us in whilst I stay in the car, on odd occasions she will make a comment.on return.
If she is in a que, one warden was more than happy to let Michelle wait whilst listening to the life story of the person in front.
Where as another similar situation, the warden politely asked the person narrating if she didn't mind serving my wife!
That's a very simple example of direct contact and poor and good customer service.
In-direct contact is how the warden runs a site, my posts re our experience this February. Laughable.
An example of good service I received was when a warden said No to my request! I wanted a thing not allowed and was well handled by the warden.
Poor service I received was when a warden accosted me for attempting to walk the dog! Raised voice by them, totally misreading the situation as in, wife booking in, my little dog have a quick stretch before wife returned. No issue at all, but warden far too quick to arms
Etc etc.
Never experienced anything like the poor service as above on any commercial sites ever!

We used to go to Beechwood Grange York every third weekend, no intention of stopping.
The club started with low, mid, sideways peak, the weekend price went above what I was willing to pay.
That's why we left the club.
Incidentally I now have a seasonal pitch a mile from there.

Very good.
Rejoined this year after 3 years away
February we wanted to walk around the wash Lowestoft way.
So rejoined for Sandringham site.
As posted great everything apart from on site experience.
Not sure if we will carry on next year. Looking at various options.
Booking protocols are good mind.

IT WAS FLIPPING SHUT !😁🙃👍
Actually I fancy joining them next year, just for a look see.
If we still use the caravan that is.

Oh, bad luck. It must have been very early in the year then!
But seriously, do give the other club a go - there are what some consider drawbacks ( booking system, deposits, cancelation conditions etc) but we've found quite a few of their sites to be every bit as good as this club's sites.
