NEW CL Goodleigh Hill CL - A brand new CL on the network, and what a cracker! A short walk into the lovely town of Pershore in Worcestershire.
Very generously sized hardstanding fully-serviced pitches with WiFi.
I visited this CL last week. Gina and Matthew Horton have thought of everything and are fabulous hosts to boot. They also run a very nice B&B, so if you have friends you'd like to join you but don't have a van, they can.
See their website where you can book online. Adults only. No loos or showers, but everything else you could ever need for a visit to Pershore and the surrounding area.

What a shame they decided to impose minimum night stays which is completely contrary to the ethos of touring. That's also my gripe with C&CC so, Goodleigh, sorry but I'm out.😕
It's also rather pricey for a non-facility CL. Non-fac club sites are cheaper.

As CY said for that sort of price one would expect there to be toilets and showers provided. They won't be getting my trade either.

Two nights at weekends is only part of the story -
"£20 per night per pitch, minimum stay of two nights at weekends and three at bank holidays and July/August"
It’s not for me.

It does rather make you wonder why, as a new business enterprise, they should start by excluding possible customers. We were on a site in Okehampton recently that had 4 Motorhomes pass through at various times of our 1 week stay that only stayed the 1 night but the pitch was used that would, or maybe would have, remained unoccupied. Still it is their business and they have made a conscious decision. I wish any new CL good luck but can't see myself staying there as there alternatives.

It's great to see new CLs joining the diminishing network! Welcome Goodleigh Hill CL
I tend to agree with Wherenext. As a CL owner when I started 5 years ago I did not want to exclude any possible visitors so did not impose minimum stays, deposits, adults only or no dogs (& still don’t). Being centrally located I have found that you do get motorhomes breaking there journeys north-south and east-west and viceversa. for a night. Some of these have returned for longer stays
As you say it is up to the owner how they run their business, diversity is a good thing!1 -
I'm pleased to see a new CL, especially in Pershore which is a nice place to visit. A pity there are restrictions at present but maybe they'll change if the take up is lower than expected? However I also expect many will enjoy serviced pitches and easy access to the town and college facilities. Sounds good to me.

There’s a rather nice thank you to the owners of the nearby CL of the year on the new Pershore CL website. Of the two, we would opt for the CL of the year, it’s almost half the price.
We have friends in Cornwall who own a CL. Brother of owner also owns a CL but wasn’t getting anything like the pitch take up, despite the CL being in an equally nice location. In the course of conversation, we suggested it might be because the brother had applied a certain restriction. We checked the next year and doing away with the restriction had increased take up significantly.
As a customer who uses a lot of single night stays, the fact that a website states two or three night minimums wouldn’t put us off enquiring. We learned long ago that most restrictions can be negotiated if the cash is jangled loudly enough. But equally, we are polite if folks don’t want to compromise, and just move on somewhere else.

Good to see 17 new CLs on the network and only 6 closures in the June issue of the Magazine. The average price is £15.
The highest price was £20 and lowest £8. Staff at HQ must have been working hard over the past few months to get this many new CLs going.
There are now 2,221 CLs on the network according to the website.
If you haven't yet tried a CL site, perhaps it's time you did. All have water and Chemical disposal, most have EHU, many have hard standing and some even have toilets and showers.
The great thing about new CLs is that they are unlikely to be fully booked, even if they have great facilities. Established CLs, in good locations with the right facilities can get booked up months, even years, ahead. One to try that hasn't even got into the magazine yet is Goodleigh Hill CL.

Ted this is the link to the new CL for anyone interested.
Don't forget there are also 395 Off-Grid (non-ehu) CLs that are reasonably priced for those of you who are that way inclined! - see the interactive map or spreadsheet

I agree minimum stays usually only apply to bookings. Just turn up or phone on the day and you might find sites are not full.

Agreed.
Ted, it’s awful. Please do something about it. There should be a warning about flashing images!

Updating my SD. Just a couple of points.
On the opened section, 4 of the new ones are non EHU. Fair enough. Interesting that most opt for a fairly decent starting price of £8 whereas the Kent one chooses £12. (Always found the South East to be an expensive place to stay. Same as Anglesey.)
I already have Townend of Shutterflat in my SD. Did they leave and then rejoin? Finally, Tissington C&MH site has a couple of reviews that would indicate that they have been a site for some time yet. Did they also leave and have now rejoined?
On the Closed section Newbridge Park can be found under Tonbridge, but I already have it as closed.

WN, the closure of Newbridge Pk was in the July edition of the club's magazine, Townend looks as if it has reopened as I've it marked off as being closed in May on CT. It sometimes happen that sites that appear to have just opened have in fact come up on a search and have been open for a short while before publication and have had visitors during that period hence the reviews. The reviews could of course have been done by friends of the site owner, as well as being members of the CC, and have used the site before it has received official recognition and inclusion in the list, and only submitted the reviews once the site appeared on the web site listing.

Yes, the CL network continues to shrink. When I first joined the then CC, it was IIRC about double its present size.

Couldn’t agree more Cyber- for me 7 offgrid sites close and 3 open- not good! The only plus was one in Norfolk near Holt and one in Dorset near Bridport. If we understood the reason for this shrinking perhaps we could do something about it. The club really should now get actively involved in promoting CLs and try to save this diminishing resource. I know that one of them has transferred to the C&CC because they were not happy with the ‘treatment ‘ they received from the club. The truth will out!

From the "closed" section it may be worth googling the site itself, as in my experience some have simply left the Caravan Club and are going it alone.
2 examples are Fowberry Farm near Bamburgh and Low Hedgeley Farm both in Northumberland.
