Stover Campsite Plus a CL Site with Beach Views

Still deciding where to go on holiday and Stover campsite is a possibility with the intention of visiting Torquay and Paignton by bus and train as we have a 7.5M motorhome.Orkney isles or North Wales are the other possibilities.

The better half has arthritis so this site having a bus stop outside is a bonus.

Anyone used this site for a similar idea and was the bus / train service ok.

Also looking for a close by CL site with beach views for a few days of doing nothing.

Any personal recommendations.

For visiting Torquay or Painton I think I would prefer somewhere closer. Ramslade has a bus stop right outside the site and is much closer in. A bit more expesive though.

    Plenty of vacancies. wink

Hillhead is expensive but great  half hourly bus service to Brixham for great ferry trip to Torquay ,also to Kingswear for steam train to Paignton or ferry to Dartmouth,or an Hourly bus service to Paignton

Bus stops right outside the site

And a lot of pitches give a great view over Torbay

FAO the broons - Haven't used Stover. and sorry can't help with CL either but just wondering if HO have missed the word ‘member‘ of your avatar as the sites you mention are generally used by club members.  Pitches can cost more for non-members.  Hope you find what you want.

Funnily enough, we left there today. We had a pitch at the far end and it wasn't noisy. The traffic noise heard on the pitches nearer the gate was nothing but a very low hum and then only at peak times. All told, it was a peaceful break.

There were a few dogs on site but I didn’t spy one 💩.

Sadly, the MHSP has not yet been upgraded.

I was disappointed to find, contrary to reports, that the warden didn’t attempt the land speed record on his tractor but pottered around at a very sedate pace.😋

The only CL close by that appears to have sea views is 50 Cofton Hill, Starcross. No.392 in site directory. Have not visited it ourselves though so can't comment on the site itself.

Maybe we have superb sound insulation and maybe the warden's speed was deceptive on previous occasions.😁

The MHSP is sure a pain especially as it means turning round and going against the one way system which could be avoided by fitting a longitudinal grid.

We've stayed there on a couple of occasions and can't say that we've noticed any excessive road noise.
