Good morning all, after 15 years of tent camping, we've upgraded to a caravan.  Possibly a mid-life crisis!  Anyway, we've bought an Eldis Avante 576 2014.  If anyone can shed any light on what fills the gap between the dinette seats, to make up the bed, we'd be grateful.  I'm assuming the current dinette table has been renewed and is a slightly larger size.  I may have to cut some ply and make my own (extra weight tho)?

In our Coachman the dinette table makes up the bed and fits perfectly.  Can’t help with your Eldis

Tony.  Therefore it might be an interesting visit to go back to the dealer and ask him to show you how to make up a double bed!  Don't have an Eldis but have you checked to see if there is a pull out slated base at the bottom of the chest of drawers between the cushions, they are sometimes cunningly concealed.   I have had this system in previous caravans.

I  have just 'Googled' the layout for your caravan and yes you should have pull out slats!

I assumed that you meant the side dinette

Our old van also had pull out slats for the side dinette bed base.

I would not advise using the table top, even if it fitted, you would get condensation under the cushions.

Much better to cut a piece of decent ply and drill a series of holes in it to allow ventilation.
