We've stayed there many times and never experienced that. But I guess it depends where on the site you're pitched. We usually aim for the left hand area as you drive into the site. It's a lovely site, ideally situated for exploring the town,  though somewhat changed in character following last year's refurbishment! I wouldn't let those stories put you off, let's face it, that could happen anywhere.smile

Haven’t stayed, but do know the environment near it well. Entrance is shared with a big car park and meadow fields surrounding the Abbey. There’s often a queue of vans going in and out via barriers, it is a busy site with lots of comings and goings. Never seen anyone lined up throwing stones though.

We did the Battlefield Walk one stay (on foot) Can recall a not particularly nice housing estate near the site, we didn’t linger walking this bit of the Battlefield Walk. But never heard of stone throwing. It does however flood on a regular basis, so check the weather/ flooding status prior to setting off.

We stayed there 3 weeks ago, just an overnight stop on our way home from Plymouth ferry port. The site is very convenient from the motorway, so gets a lot of one nighters.

Our stay was pleasant and uneventful. Nothing to worry about.

Neighbours just returned after 1 week stay. Reported no problems. Hopefully it was a one off. If in doubt ring the site and ask the wardens who will have up to date info.

We have stayed at Tewksbury a few times JimC it has always been fine.       Personally never heard of the stone throwers but it could happen anywhere not just Tewksbury.  It does have a housing estate behind but we have always avoided that area.  The site is nice, close to Abbey and town.

There were reports of this happening some years ago now. I would have thought that it would be a good idea to look at the reviews for the site in question because it was happening recently someone would have commented. There were similar reports at Cherry Hinton but when we were there earlier in the years we saw no evidence of it.
