Just received the most recent Club magazine.  On page 3 the front cover is identified as Blackpool Pleasure Beach - which it most definitely isn't!  Scottish castle, I guess - but which one?

Yes that puzzled me as well. But then I realised that they produce different magazines for different parts of the country and one of the pictures might well have been Blackpool! A bit slap dash!

To those members who know the area, it's clearly Urquhart Castle by Loch Ness. Blackpool has recently opened a "Strictly Come Dancing Experience" attraction - perhaps there's a "Loch Ness Experience" attraction too.

I didn't think the regional angle was used anymore and I don't think the cover photo has ever been different for regions. Maybe they want to make sure we get as far as page three. wink

Inside the magazine in the review of the motorhome the plan shown bears no relation to the van being reviewed. It's clearly a plan of a van conversion and the text reviews a coach built.

I asked the question before who proof reads this thing🤔

Quite clearly, nobody. It is disconcerting to find an increasing frequency of things where attention to detail is lacking across CAMC, CL Lat/Long being a case in point.

Made me laugh, I am a cynic!

Cyberyacht as you have pointed out on a thread about members question time northern region, attention to detail and checking doesn't just apply to the magazine. For those who've not seen the thread -  parking for the event is in a multistorey carpark 😉

I'm puzzled as to why the club should produce different magazines for different areas.

Surely we're all members of the same club so should get the same magazine.

Magazine has never been regional, even back in 'en Route' days. Just sloppy proof reading or no checking at all ?  errr she is off having a baby ? a nervous breakdown, or just on holiday ?

With so many apparent inaccuracies in the magazine over several months, some blatantly obvious and others less so, what 'facts' can we actually believe and rely on?  One could make an expensive mistake if the magazine was taken as gospel.

The whole publication is becoming a work of fiction. Thankfully the contents have become so not worth reading that perhaps less of us will actually rely on the 'facts'. I suppose it makes a good game on a wet day, 'Find the Errors and Inaccuracies'. Come back Enid Blyton.

Our Magazine has "N" next to the date on the top left.

Maybe they mean we should only tour in the North

I do wonder about this. Ours has SW on the cover but how much difference is there in the actual content (I rarely get very far into the contents! wink)

Magazine has never been regional, even back in 'en Route' days.

There is certainly a regional element. There are 5 variations (areas) with different events diarys (page 67 / 68) and spotlight on site (pages 71 / 72) ours in NWM is Wirral Country Park.

All 5 variations are available on the App.

There may be other regional differences, these are just the ones I have noticed.

edit posted at same time JVB

incidentally ours is a very wide area North Wales and the Midlands

Seems a bit self defeating really if they are promoting sites in the area where you live anyway. I'd rather read about sites in other areas of the country if I have to read it at all!  frown

Although in our case the featured site is 116 miles away and almost 3 hours traveling according to google. If you download the App M you can read them all.😂

Mine has SNI (which I'll assume is Scotland & Northern Ireland) next to the date.

Regional mags seem to exist & like Moulesy I rather read about areas in which I don't live rather than those I do.

The wrongly captioned photograph reminded me of another mistaken caption a few years back. An article by Lee …. (his surname escapes me !!) had a photo of Chesil Beach from the top of the hill at Portland captioned as West Bay (about 15-20 miles further west. I wrote to the Editor (being a Dorset boy - by birth) to point out the error. I didn't receive even an acknowledgement.

I didn't bother to point out a repeat of this error in a more recent article by the same author.

The magazine is now partly regional. If you check the on line version you will find the regional variations at the end.

It seems very odd to me to have regional variations so that you get a magazine detailing things within your own area. We normally travel a minimum of 3 hours from home when we go away in the van. Anything closer than that we have normally already been there and done that and probably by car. We have never understood why anyone would go just down the road unless you are very tight on time. I don't need to learn about things in my own area, I already know.  undecided

Many moons ago I would weekend with wife and kids as well as touring. Not in the last 30 years I suppose and the max travel time then would have had to usually be 1.5 hours I think.

Very much the same as us ET, when working and now. All of the Peak District is in range within 1.5 hours. I really didn't / don't want to spend time and money traveling further when away for only 3 nights.

Must admit sites further afield are of more interest for me. It does mean local advertisers can hit then target audience though, without wasting money on people hundreds of miles away.

It's their new way of saving money....using one photo all year round so not having to commission a new one every month!!wink They are trying to recoup some of the useless outlay they spent on the "new" name etc.
