Hi everyone, new member here and this is my first post. I've had a very bad start to caravanning with my omnivent shattering and blowing away on the drive home after my first outing - it can only be up from here. So I have sourced a replacement and I have the old one out. Now I need to clean all the sealant off and put the new one in. So my question is.... What can I use to get the old stuff off and what sealant do I use to put the new one in?

I had to replace the toilet filler flap recently. I was advised to use white spirit to clean the old stuff off. So, I scraped off as much as the old stuff that I could, then used the spirit which worked. I can’t remember the stuff I used to refit, but it wasn’t sealant. A bit like putty? Your local dealer should have it. Regarding the white spirit, it’s worth checking that there won’t be a reaction with the roof.

White spirit is fine ,use a plastic scraper for most of gunge dipped in white spirit ,, let roof dry ,use role of tape from caravan shops ,or internet , make sure there is no gunge left on roof . added peace of mind sicoflex round edge ,yes ive done it whole caravan ,all the best

What is the tape you mentioned and what is it for? I was thinking silkaflex to seal it
