Fridge on gas

The fridge in our caravan will only stay alight for a while ( maximum up to an hour and a half) before going out again. There are no obstructions ( i.e. dirt/ spiders ) etc to interfere with the gas flow and it works fine when on electric. Does anyone else have similar experience with theirs?

Thank you.

Have  you checked the flue is not obstructed ?

Just a thought (not had problem) but it could it be the thermostat is cutting in but the gas jet is going out rather than reducing ?

That’s a strange one! If it were the thermo couple is wouldn’t stay alight. I would certainly have it checked out by an engineer.

It could be a faulty thermocouple probe, bad alignment or gas valve. We had a problem one year and the fridge would only stay alight for a short period. Turned out to be the probe which was good as valves are a bigger and more expensive job. Sometimes the pilot light is not properly aligned with the probe so doesn’t give a constant heat to the thermocouple.

The pilot can waver when the wind is blowing into the fridge vent.
