Hi There,

We brought a new 2017 Bailey Unicorn Barcelona.

When trying to fit the awning to the rear of the caravan the awning wouldn't go past the joining strip .

You can feed the awning in from the front of the caravan okay, but it is a struggle getting the awning over the high level light especially with an air awning.

I mentioned this to the servicing dealer on the first year they told me that they had cleared the awning track, now a year on I mentioned this issue again.

The reply I was given was that all Baileys are like it as you can imagine this is not very good no one mentioned it when I parted with our money!

Are there any others with the same issue if so did you get it resolved?

I look forward to you reply's

Many Thanks

Andy

We have a pegasus iv and have never had a problem with the awning rail and it is probably your dealer "trying it on"as all Bailey caravans are made the same way and if it was a problem as your dealer says then it would be well knownsurprised

I remember looking at a join on our 2014 U2 Cadiz, which was towards the front and thinking I am glad I don't have to try and get an awning through that, as it looked obstructed. We only had a short roll out though and always put that on from the back, so never had to test it.

The awning rail on my Pegasus was blocked with sealant at the joint.  I cleared it out and it's been fine since.

I do pull a cleaning cloth through the channel now and again as it does get rather mucky in there.

With an Olympus the rear corner is a right angle bend and the awning does need a little help turning the corner.

The dealer has now suggested spraying silicone on the awning rail.

I feel they are missing the point that an awning will just not fit from the rear of the caravan.

They are just fobbing me off !!!!!

I am awaiting Bailey Caravans to find a soloution.

    Many thanks for your reply's

My Unicorn was exactly the same. Over exuberant application of silicone sealant.

Bought an awning rail spreader tool off ebay. Problem sorted.

We had a 2015 U3 Barcelona and had no problem with the awning rail, so the suggestion that they are all like that is utter codswallop. Like you, I automatically fed the awning into the rail from the front and struggled to get the air awning legs over the high level light - until I realised there was no reason why it couldn't go on from the back. We never had a problem - so I suggest you continue pressing the dealer to get it sorted.
