Powrtouch evolution
having a new powertouch evolution single axle auto fitted this coming Friday by Caravan Movers from Wales, why somebody from Wales when i live in Hampshire, they replied promtly to my request for quotes dates etc, offered a good price and a date for fitting that was acceptable. Not being an engineer, is there anything i should pay particular attention to. Caravan has an old 2006 Truma fitted but bearings/bushes have gone in nearside motor, at least that is what is sounds like and rather than mess about trying to fix only to have the other motor go I would prefer to upgrade. They are going to remove old and fit new, movers have been around for a long time so i guess not rocket science to fit, they have quoted 2 hours to remove/fit.

Do you mind me asking how much it cost?

I cant tell you for def as you have to negotiate your own price but it was between £1k and £1080, i think the prices are based on how many jobs they have and in what area, i am sure if you could russle up 3 or 4 punters they would do you a good deal.

I think the cost will depend on the make of caravan ,as like ours was already wired on manufacture for motor mover, think it took just over an hour,In our storage compound I just placed the van on the washdown area, ,they really know what they are doing ours is the manual activate version, i was advised against the electric version as our van is in storage and if leisure battery is low, can give "problems"moving van as mover can get stuck against wheel when battery gives out, this was also confirmed by site warden as he advised it was quite commonplace if van not used very often, and is a pain to release manually

agree re cost, our van already has a mover fitted so i am hoping that when they remove this the new one slots into its place, I did inform them that they would have to remove old mover, no problem, they said. Our caravan is parked at side of bungalow on a small piece of land, so i nearly always have power on so did not see electric mover as a problem, except it is more expensive

mover fitted today, have to say most impressed by engineer, Caravan Movers Wales, stripped out the old one which was knackered and fitted new one, gave demo etc, all in approx 2 hrs. I have had the Evo auto fitted,I did ask the engineer re rollers getting stuck on wheel if battery low, JVB66 said
"i was advised against the electric version as our van is in storage and if leisure battery is low, can give "problems"moving van as mover can get stuck against wheel when battery gives out"
he told me that if battery gives out whilst moving and rollers are against the wheels, switch off, wait 3 mins approx, switch on and then disengage the rollers, he said that in the 3 mins, battery should have recovered sufficiently to move the rollers off the wheel, however, it does not look that difficult to move the rollers manually, it comes with a nice shiny handle that you slot in the unit and turn.

What I have found is fitters do not follow makers recommended fitting
instructions which is to leave both cables same length they cut back one near battery box which according to manufacturer is wrong you could have a
problem with one wheel going bit faster than other so van not go in straight line don't take my word for it speke to manufacturer
