I take the position that I love my dogs as much as folks love their children. I wouldn’t put something that I love this much into a space that could cause it distress, anxiety or lord forbid, any kind of injury. That area of MH will magnify things like humps and cornering. Literally the tail wagging the dog. Not come across anyone who allows children to travel in a MH garage, although it’s possible some are thoughtless enough to try it.

I'm not saying you are wrong , and it's a valid point you have raised .i would not let my dog travel in that sort of environment
Our other dog would only travel in her crate in the back of the car with a blanket over it , it seemed to make her feel safe , if we took the blanket off ,she would howl
we all have differing levels of acceptance

It may very well be normal for some, but most of dogs we have come across in MHs are either in a cage inside main part of MH, that cannot slide around, or tethered so that they can turn around and change position, but not be a danger to themselves or other occupants. Some use a board that prevents dog getting into cab area.
Service/working dogs are often treat very differently to pets. They are tools, something that has a finite usefulness. This year’s Crufts focussed on a charity that was looking to rehabilitate service dogs rather than euthanising them after they have got too old to help their country. Very difficult sometimes because they are taught aggression and blind unquestioning loyalty.
You don’t want to know what happens to Hunt dogs, some racing greyhounds and Keepers dogs.I have a BIL who has rescued, patiently retrained and found good homes for young Keepers dogs, not thought good enough for the job. He snatched one from the barrel of a shotgun, it’s now a much loved pet.

Not sure if it applies in this case but I have seen a MH review on Youtube where the MH had a dog cage built into the garage. The cage ran into the interior of the MH and was part of the set up under the raised bed so that the dog could be seen whilst travelling.
Unfortunately I do not remember the model of MH. I think the built in dog cage was a factory option.

Hi we are new to touring and about to purchase our first touring caravan, but have a question regarding touring with our little Jack Russell Poppy.
She always comes on holiday with us in the uk, in our static caravan, cottages & she has been in a motorhome.
My question is regarding the heat inside the caravan, is it safe to occasionally leave her in if we have to nip out somewhere or would it get to hot like a car would on a sunny day?
Thanks

Not sure why, but the “Jump to last post” function isn’t working on this thread for me. (iPad using Safari)

Seems to be working for me, TDA. Same set up👍🏻

"content removed"
How unusual.

I was muzzled last night elsewhere, maybe it’s something I said😁

Yes, you ask a perfectly reasonable question, provide your reasons for asking the question in a calm and rational way. Result is one pointless response from somebody with nothing better to do and then the post is removed. I think it’s called censorship and I don’t like it!

Lots of stuff going on....but not much sense.
How many dogs...is too many dogs ?
for Me, a dog lover and until our Lucy died a couple of weeks ago, a dog owner, I would say 3 in any one unit. This may hurt someone who regularly takes 4 or more. But can you really handle more than 3 at a time ? and is it fair on your pitch neighbors? or others on the Site ? also creating 'dog pens' on pitches is not fair to whoever uses your pitch after you. just my 2penny worth.

I've sussed that out tda. It happens when the last post has had it's contents removed. It happens quite often, and had me puzzled for ages.

My BIL has seven dogs. Doesn’t tour with them, but he does take them all out together walking, including one who is stone deaf. They are extremely well behaved, obedient and socialised. We have very occasionally looked after them and walked them when BIL has been away. We use the same recall and other instructions to dogs and they react the same for us. Give me seven well trained and socialised pooches over one badly trained one any day. A badly or indeed untrained dog is a menace and annoyance to everyone.

My post above was in reply to someone who complained about 'a compound' being set up on pitch to restrain multiple dogs who were allowed to relieve themselves within its confines...yes it was cleared up, but the poster was saying the pitch was unclean for others coming after ? Well, we are now on New England Bay (and lovely it is too !) with just such a compound, made up of rigid wind breakers forming the unbroken 'wall' around the pitch.
Not a problem to me, but surely just a dog tether would be friendlier and leave the pitch in a better condition for those who follow ?

If you can open the top vents and have the blinds down on the sunny side it can be quite cool in a caravan so the dog would be fine for short periods. Obviously you would leave water accessible.
You would need to check the site rules because some do not allow a dog to be left unattended. Also you would need to check it isn't barking constantly or you will be very unpopular.

I was thinking of Britain when I wrote the above and normal weather. If you end up in southern climes and temperature s of 40C plus of course things would be very different. Closing the roof blind as has been advocated on this forum simply will not cut it.

Read this in MMM which may in the future be helpful to members with dogs.
The Caravan & Motorhome Club is launching a Paws of Approval campaign, awarding its best UK dog friendly campsites a “paw rating” voted for by members.

Excellent, I’ll know which sites to avoid!

I wasn’t going to say anything but, having noted your like of another post, I suggest avoiding all sites unless they’re dog free, which really means not using club sites. There, that’s logical.
