Is a canopy an awning?
We have a roll out canopy on our Motorhome & was not sure if we should book an Awning pitch if we wish to use it on club sites.
Does anyone know what the official line is on this please?

It would depend if you have a car with you as well. If not, as long as spacing permits (it is at least 3 metres from the adjacent car / awning) it should be acceptable. Although I do not think you are supposed to leave it deployed on a permanent basis. However, personally I would book an awning pitch and avoid any potential problems.

We were once at Bunree where the front row around the loch are non awning pitches to prevent the view being blocked. When a lochside pitch became available, I enquired if it was ok to use a canopy and was told it was ok.
However if you do not book an awning pitch, you may find it rather narrow and difficult to accommodate the car as well.

You can use a wind out canopy on a non-awning pitch but might be asked to partially wind it in depending on space.
Like others, I’d book an awning pitch as there are generally far more of them and they tend to be more spacious while non-awning pitches can be in less favourable positions, Bunree excepted obviously.

While it's possible to deploy a canopy on a non awning pitch on club sites (as long as spacing is correct and it's put away at night) I'd suggest that while awning pitches are the same price (for now) I'd book one whether you use one or not. The overall percentage of club pitches are awning so there will be more choice. As an example the site I work on at present there are four non awning pitches compared to one hundred and twenty three awning.

Really? It’s something posters have mentioned many times. I think JK’s just referring to that. Perhaps you were away and missed the threads.

Noooo, never! Moist, juicy and flavoursome, that’s Philps👍🏻
I found G....... pasties for sale in Shetland. Whatever must the Shetlanders think of us 😱

Dry? I’ve never come across a dry pasty in my life. Even G....... are moist, albeit the moisture is grease. 😧😃

Freddy, Philps are good ... but if you're ever down St Agnes way, try a pasty from the bakery there. Takes pastydom to a whole new level!
(Nothing to do with canopies or awnings of course, maybe we should have a whole thread for pasties? )

Course they’re not, they’re running in oil😂. They purport to be pasties but they are imitations of the real thing. They can only call themselves Cornish because the factory happens to be just the right side of the Tamar.

Just to keep it on track, I’m pleased to hear from the Philps appreciation society. They are well suited to eating under one's canopy or in an awning and JK will help point you towards the best pitch🤣

For a moment, I thought I'd clicked on the wrong thread.... . P.S. another vote here for Philps.
On the subject of awning /canopy, I'm interested in the answer. We are staying on at least one (non-club) site this summer who charge for awnings.... see my thought track.. I bet I can guess which side the coin will flip..
