Dangerous dog
recently stayed on a site (not c&mh) and an Alsatian on a short lead passing a caravan awning when a dog looked like a staffy shot out on a long lead ran out and grabbed the alascation by the neck and wouldn't let go despite efforts from the owner. It went on for quite a while and it wasn't until another camper suggested pouring water over the dog that it released its grip. It was witnessed BY several people at this point. Luckily the Alsatian had a large leather collar and wasn't injured, but must have been traumatised. The owners of the staffy dog left the next day. The incident was reported to the warden. If this had occurred on a cmhc site would there be any repucussions,. Are such incidents recorded so any future incidents means a suspension in membership, or the dog has to be muzzled if staying on sites in future. Heaven forbid if this had been a small child. I wonder what the policy is, or should there be one.

It's happened on a non CMC site how can you possibly know if the people involved were caravan club members & how on earth could they be they disaplined if they were.
There are rules regarding dogs on all club sites , members should be aware of the rules & any bad behaviour would/should be dealt with by the site wardens.
Personally I think your post is totally irrelevant because it wasn't a club site & totally unfounded that club members were involved.
Pure speculation.

We have had one child killed by a dog on a campsite here in Cornwall this year - but this thread will quickly be locked before the dog lobby rises up with excuses.

To be fair EuroT, the full facts about that case haven’t been explained yet, so it’s not something that anyone should jump to any conclusions about. No one is doubting a child died, but how, when and why require explaining. Happy to discuss in dog thread, but not here.🙂

For the most part it is not the dogs that are a danger, it is the 'owner'. Having said that some breeds do not make particularly good social 'partners' in public places. All dog owners regardless of breed must maintain that necessary responsibility to ensue the safety and reassurance to all others including those who are less than confident or happy being around our canine friends.

It wasnt on a club site and didnt involve a child so hypothesising is simply stirring it up. My springer is the softest and most timid dog you could imagine however he hates other dogs sniffing his bum and personal bits such that his defensive instinct kicks in and he will turn round and defend his honour in no uncertian terms but not such he bites the other dog. Does that mean he is dangerous and should be muzzled? With 99% of dog behaviour issues it is the owners that need training....
