So I've bought my nearly new car, what I want to ask is,

Has anyone else had the towable mass on the V5 showing the wrong figure?

Its definitely wrong  the Audi dealership has talked to Audi UK to verify.

I'd follow your advice from the cassette toilet thread. Get rid and buy a new car with the correct  information on the V5. Too much hassle to get it changed. winklaughing

Getting it changed could well take a while, if our experience is anything to go by. We bought a new MH at the beginning of March, V5 arrived within a week but for the wrong coloured van. Because it was not clear what information they required, I phoned and spoke to someone. They told me to fill in on the V5 where it said change of colour, leave date of change blank as the colour was from new, and supply a signed covering letter. I did all this and they took 6 weeks to inform me that this was insufficient and I needed a letter from the manufacture detailing its original colour. The daft thing is if I had it respayed they would have accepted my word for it.🤔

The information they provided re the manufacturer was wrong, so another bit of poor advice. Google however, provided the number for fiat camping car customer services. There help could not be faulted and I had a nice headed note paper letter within a week. Which I have now sent off to the DVLA who will probably take another 6 weeks to hopefully send me a correct V5.

I wasn't too bothered for this country. However, we want to take it abroad and I am not keen until the documentation shows the correct colour.

Colour isn't something I'd particularly worry about. I have two Smarts (Fortwo & Roadster) for reasons only known to Mercedes/Smart, their colour is described as being that of the 'tridion' ie the main metal structure so both mine have their colour as silver when one is predominantly black & the other predominantly red.

A large number of new cars have that figure on the V5 wrong, (read the vehicle forums) mine is and I just ignore it, the plated weight on the car is correct, the towing weight is also in the handbook.

I suspect it's like most large government organisations. It's very much dependent on who ends up dealing with your problem.

I probably wouldn't have bothered if there was a bit more black on it (the colour on the V5) but apart from the mirrors, it is totally silver.

The towable mass isn’t an enforceable criterion anyway (only the plated weights are) so the figure on the V5 is only of academic interest. I therefore wouldn’t bother if it’s too much effort.
