Flashing flag/light poles
Could the club Not ban these from sites as they can be a hazard to people with Ep' also if you had a light in your garden at home which is distracting neighbours' others would you Not ask that neighbour to turn the bloody thing Off. rest my peace Rant.

A rant indeed and something that’s been discussed many times.
If you see something hazardous to your health, there’s nothing to stop you having a polite word with the person concerned.

This is on a camp site after all and not permanent like at home. Yes if there is a real and present danger to life or your outfit then do something. If they are that bright as to really annoy you then once again do something, but if it is just a distraction or minor annoyance then live and let live?
I assume as they are only bothering you at night and as they are not that bright and it is just a distraction then close the blinds?

We leave the awning light on all night, does that annoy?
I have allsorts of outside lights around my detached house, LED floodlights to all 4 sides, purple floodlights in back garden to light up the trees, yellow at the front for the porch and yellow spotlight on the Cordyline tree, no complaints yet!

I'm a live and let live kinda guy - so not likely to get worked up by someone elses flagpole or music or dog or children. But must say I prefer looking at trhe night sky and seeing the moon and stars rather than flashing LED lights. And i prefer hearing the birds rather than my neighbours taste in music. I'd rather see the green of the grass and trees rather than a neighbours giant brightly coloured windbreak staked out to the very edge of my pitch !
But life is to short to get worked up abut this stuff so i just get up and go for a walk .But kinda sad that some peopel have to try to rebuild the city in country field - and we take our light polution with us!

thanks then (If i remember my awareness training on this) that is photosensitive epilepsy (affect 5% of those with epilepsy) and even if a person be so affected then a TV in a dark room poses more of a threat than such lights on a caravan site. But I may be wrong.
I wonder if the OP is affected like that?

LEDs that warn where your awning pegs are can help avoid tripping, but as for those great tall flashing poles and fairy lights - ughhhh - ban them all! Awning lights left on all night also upset me, especially when I want to do a bit of star gazing.

While I can sort of see your point, I would think that a camp site is not the best place to star graze?
Also I leave my awning light on to help me back onto the van from trips to the shower block.

Banning seems a bit radical. I grimace at the noise of the 6am water fetching routine and the crash of empty bottles going in the recycling bin but I wouldn’t dream of calling for a ban just because it doesn’t suit me. No doubt I do something that annoys others but we can’t ban everything.

Made me smile Corners. Some of our best ever star watching moments have been on campsites.......but definitely not Club ones, or large ones. I suppose Club has a duty of care to ensure that there is some overnight lighting for those 2-3am calls of nature, so they can be forgiven.
But sitting out in the dark, on a warm clear evening, with no artificial light around is one of those unforgettable things we like to do. Passing satellites, shooting stars, so many pinpricks of light it’s hard to pick out the constellations. It’s become much nicer and easier now that some places are using less intrusive street lighting.
We always have a torch in our tourer, comes from our camping background I suppose. Not a fan of light displays on sites, except at Christmas, but some feel the need for them. We have good blackout curtains and blinds.

Had that pleasure a few years back in my VW Trooper !
Sitting on the van's step, slathered in Jungle Formula I remember, watching the moon rise over the Ben and reflecting in a very still Loch Naver. Feeling that my coffee was cold I thought of brewing another one when I noticed it was 01:30. Decided against it , wiped the gunge off and went to bed before the sun rose
And that's why Altnahara is Brian's favourite Club Site TTDA !!

but why all those night time trips to the toilets? haven't the vast majority of post 1960 outfits got some sort of toilet facility? saves money on torch batteries and keeps door slamming noise to a minimum. That's me done.

We live in a town and we see the night sky. Despite a bright moon on Sunday I managed to observe Jupiter and a couple of it's moons plus Mars and Saturn obviously better with no lights about but you have to make do with what you've got.
Likewise I've never see anyone want the trees cut down from the roadsides due to the potential strobe effect with the sun which might cause problems with folk with epilepsy

Yes I can agree with what you are saying, in my younger days I did some wild camping, and I mean real wild camping here, in the Lakes, (Red tarn was the best lovely clear night I remember) and just lying there after dark was absolutely amazing.

Lovely isn’t it. We found a site in North Norfolk, little CS. No other lights showing, we sat there hours trying to identify constellations. At least until locals turned up lamping for rabbits🙄

I'm not a fan of flag poles, whether decked out with LED lights or not. The fact that I don't shut my blinds until quite late and could find the lights something of a distraction is my problem and I don't expect others to be concerned about it.
I'm sure I do things that irritate the pants of other campers.0 -

Reminds me of a holiday with some of OHs family. We took all log cabins up at Carradale for a week late October. Van Site was closed, so we had place to ourselves. Owners are friends with OHs sister and BIL, little did I know that there had been an agreement that part of holiday would involve clearing van site of some of the bunnies. I got suspicious when numerous ferrets and guns started to be unloaded....................... woke up one morning to find a dozen bunnies hanging on our wash line!😱
I hate seeing things killed, but sadly a lot of the rabbits had myxomatosis and were suffering. 😕
