Caravan numbers
hi all i have a question about the caravan numbers .... what do they mean ? i have a 380/2
so my thinking was she is 3.8m but shipping length is 5.61m taking in to account the hitch unit
so measured outside from front to rear [without hitch] and its 4.5m the internal length is 3.96m so why 380? any advice would be great cheers

They are just something thought up by the builders' marketing people. Sometimes they do have a meaning, often not.

In days of yore the first number referred to the internal length at bed box height and the second to the number of berths.
These days, I think all you can deduce is that the bigger the number, then the longer the van.

And a Merc Sprinter 316 is a series 3 with a 160 horse engine.

I've often wondered why single axle caravans start with a 4 or 5, while double axle vans start with a 6? There is sometimes only about 50cm difference in length between the two, personally I just look at the layout/axle I want and work from there rather the than numbers

Just to put a spanner in the works, Corners, we had two T/A vans - a Lunar 520/2 and a Bessacarr 550. 😀

So a Boeing 737 is 7 meters long and has 37 seats . . . . ?

BMW 3 Series 2.0 318d M Sport 4dr 141bhp
BMW 3 Series 1.5 318i SE Touring Auto (s/s) 5dr 136bhp
BMW 3 Series 2.0 320i SE 2dr 170bhp
BMW 3 Series 2.0 316d Sport (s/s) 4dr 116bhp
they don't do a 1.8 just a lower bhp on the 320
and all depends on the year produced.
