Hi all, I'm thinking of rejoining the club after a short period when we sold our caravan and wasn't going touring again. We have now bought a VW T6 campervan and I would like to know if anyone uses a drive away awning on the clubs sites? I'm hoping there are no problems in using one or its off to tother club.

Thanks for any Info.

We don't use one but have certainly seen them occasionally. One problem can be the size. There was a thread recently where the OP had purchased one with an overall width of 4.2 metres. That included the connecting tunnel. At that size it would not be usable on most CC pitches, as the 3 metre spacing to the adjacent car / awning could not be maintained.

There is a vw camper with a drive away on this site now just down from us, and is one of the few campervans that go off site since arriving wink

In that discussion the width including the MH was 6.4m which seems huge.

A with-awning pitch accommodates a caravan and awning. What is the combined width there?

Bri, there is nothing to bar your drive away awning providing you don’t book a non-awning pitch but have regard for your total width.

We have seen loads, must have been around a dozen at Rowntree Park when we were there last year, some fitted to side, some to rear. Just check out dimensions, don’t go too large, and book an awning pitch and sure you will be fine.

We have a roll out on side of our small MH, and even on a none awning we are fine for space. No sides in of course.

You should be fine, just make sure you book an awning pitch.

We have, and regularly used, an Outdoor Revolution a midi awning when we had out T5 Topaz and had no problems on sites.  We don’t  use it now (it’s in the shed) because we moved to a small coachbuilt.

In fact, if you want it you are welcome to it and our old Siver Screen if it will fit...just message me. (We are in Leigh)
