Advice on a caravan
Hi all I am new to all this so please forgive me. I have twin boys aged 9 and a stepdaughter aged 11. We have all been camping in a tent the last being in September last year. Everything took a turn for the worse my partner Steph in October had a seizure long story short she has 3 tumours in her brain 2 on her lung. Steph is now under clatterbridge fast forward she has a further 2 on the brain and now one by the aorta. So now is the time to look for a caravan and have as many family holidays together. I have a Vauxhall grandland x car and I am after a 6 berth twin axle caravan . I am after a used one and not to expensive . I need advice if the car will tow a twin axle it is a 1.5 Diesel engine and where is the best place to start looking. Hope this all makes sense oh and need a tow bar fitting to the car. Any advice help will be greatly received.

Perhaps reading the 'Advice and Training' might help you find out what weight your vehicle can tow safely. There is a 'Match your car and caravan' facility there so you can check out any caravan you may fancy. There are other 'matching tools' via google I'm sure, so you can do other comparisons. Good luck with your search.

I would say change the car to at least a 2l or bigger. have a look at the Santa Fe or the Sorento as these will give you a bigger choice of caravan. we took up caravanning as my wife had a brain injury during a routine op, then meningitis while in intensive care, never speaks and wheel chair job. good luck for the future but get rid of the Vauxhall. You will probably find the older the caravan the heavier it is. more modern caravans use lighter materials to keep the weight down.
