IIRC it's just more expensive to cover an older car (10yrs 🤔)

I just googled. The change point is 15 years I think MM from memory. Obviously it is an extract and not for the extended stay.

'Price is based on two travellers under the age of 70 on our Motoring and Personal cover. This includes cover for a car & caravan or motorhome and is based on a single trip of up to 6 days. Additional premiums may apply on larger and/or vehicles over 15 years old'.

Link for more detail here. I would personally just do a quote online and see what gives

Thanks, it is future proofing a possible car purchase. Have been offered 10 yr old Touareg, 1 owner, FDSH, low miles so a bit tempted...

Absolutely....! I would need one of those giving along with a dowry to pay the servicing bills. Would love to drive one though... unfortunately its the boggo standard V6 SE albeit with a few additional bells and whistles. Just needs a towbar.

A lad at work has an older V10, bought to tow his daughter's horse box. Not sure about running costs as he's tighter than a duck's bum in water so only spends what he has too, but fuel consumption isn't that bad.

The V10 will no doubt be a great autobahn cruiser and probably not much different mpg to the V6. However suspect it will eat tyres and transmissions... could always go for the budget version, the straight 5 cyl 2.5 tdi version...... hoping to do the deal tomorrow.
