Has anyone else had trouble with getting around the bed when in night mode?.  In the coachman pastiche 575. If so do you have any tips.

I don't have one but I thought it required a sideways shuffle

That's the whole point of testing the layout at a dealers or watching video's on youtube.

All transverse island beds are the same tight fit when in night mode, or buy a new 8' wide caravan

Even on the new 8ft wide vans a transverse bed is tight to get round, but the majority of vans the bed "extends"for night mode making it tightest the bottom to get past , we have noted the "problem" when looking? at the showssurprised

    Yep, that's us. 2016 version.

Was fine at the dealers but once you put your bedding on, not so good.

I'm guessing your wife like mine opted for the side of the bed nearest the bathroom.

I can just about shuffle by, just.

We have tried sleeping without pulling the bed out, for us short folk it could possibly work, but I sleep face down with no pillows, so the mattress extension would need cutting off, something I'm not prepared to do.

    ......

    Regarding other tips,

I moved the hoop recently that forms part of the metal structure for the bed closer to the end of the metal beam, so as to gain more room for storage underneath, made a big difference. 10 minute job.

I also have a clamp for the partition door, the clips it fastens into dont always hold it closed when travelling. Once bitten and all that.

We have the VIP 575 and yes, it is tight but doable. Caravans are a compromise no matter which van you choose. All in all, I’m very pleased with the new caravan. Certainly a sideways shuffle at night but so much better than the side bed we had.

Agree with all the above replies but will say my other half manages to shuffle past even though she has had two knee replacements and before i get pelters for me having the bathroom side of the bed its her choice.

I sometimes use the one leg knee on bed and squeeze the other leg down.Otherwise its the sideways shuffle.

If you push the mattress back it does slightly increase the gap.

Like a previous poster I have fitted an extra sliding door retainer to stop door sliding opening in transit.

The room is tight on most transverse beds and passing it can be difficult. I am afraid with this layout you do need to check it out before buying and decide if you can live with it.

Or sleep with your knees under your chin and get the bed shortened!
