Leaving caravan unoccupied overnight
This question may have been asked before and there may also be something in the handbook but I can't immediately find it so my apologies for asking here.
Is it permissible to leave a caravan unoccupied overnight (one night only) on a club site? We have been invited to a wedding in the wilds of Scotland, the celebrations for which are going on until midnight. We would then have a 30 miles return journey to the caravan site. We have been offered overnight accommodation at the reception hotel which is obviously a tempting offer but don't know if we can take this up.

I believe it is possible from what I've read, you pay the pitch fee for that night and obviously clear it with the warden., with as much notice as possible. Hopefully we can find chapter and verse but the search is rubbish on this site! Enjoy the wedding whatever your decision on overnighting.
Edit forgot to mention I tried searching unoccupied van on site - got 4448 those containing words in question 😂😂. Put it in quotes brings a single response about a CL 😤😤😤

Indeed you can. From Site Rules: 'Please ask permission from the site staff if you need to leave your outfit unoccupied for more than 48 hours, unless you're using designated seasonal pitches.'
So you only need to inform them if away for more than 48 hours strictly. We were at CC Gowerton on 16th September last year for a 5 night stay. I informed the site on arrival that the caravan would likely be unoccupied for one night as it as our intent to find a hotel for forecast high winds rather than spend a night 'rocking and rolling'. Consequently we paid for only the minimum occupancy of one adult for that night when booking in.

We have done it with the warden's knowledge and were not asked to unplug the electric.

Searching via google works - 'Caravan Club Site Rules' was my search.

We've done it a few times and were only asked on one occasion to unplug the EHU cable. When I explained that I had a fridge/freezer full of food which would be damaged the site staff agreed it would be okay to stay plugged in.

It was amusing when we stayed in the hotel to avoid a turbulent night. When switching on bathroom light the extractor fan started normally, then struggled and then the blades appeared to rotate backwards as the exterior flaps opened on the outside of the building and the wind howled in.

If it's just overnight we have just locked up and gone, nothing to do with anyone else. We leave electric plugged in as well because a) as mentioned before fridge is full of food and b) it's paid for.

We have done it on numerous occasions, both Club Sites and CLs. We inform Wardens/Owners. We always unplug from EHU and turn gas off, our none stay nights usually planned, and we prefer everything off.

There you go then. You only need seek permission if you’re away more than 48 hours. Only the individual can decide if it’s courteous to inform the warden of a shorter absence.

yes +1 but not only courteous but also allows the wardens to keep an eye out for anything untoward with your outfit?

We have CL in our village, we telephoned and asked if was ok to book one night (as we keep the caravan in storage) so we could get away early, as we lived just around the corner from the CL the caravan would be unoccupied but just need power for the fridge as our dogs are on insulin plus we would like to do this on a regular basis the lady said no problem.
When we arrived at the CL the owner told in a very rude manner he did not have a booking for is and no we could not leave the caravan unoccupied?
Now we understand why the CL is always empty.

Are the owner and the lady the same? If not then they require better communication.

I’ve left my caravan unoccupied overnight on site several times and once for two nights. Never had a problem. Only told the warden when it was left for two nights in line with club rules. Always left electric and gas on, just switched off the things not in use such as heating and hot water etc.
