You are obviously more disciplined than us. When I look around the inside of our caravan at the moment I see a frying pan on the hob, the coffee maker, the kettle, a bottle of olive oil and numerous glasses of condiments, herbs and spices in the kitchen area, books, laptop and items of clothing on the seats and the odd pair of shoes on the floor. Besides, before being able to roll up the awning I’d have to remove the side panels (useful as a windbreak) and the strip lighting along the front. In all I guess I’d need a good hour to pack everything away even before getting the caravan ready to move off.

It’s a 6m PVC, Lutz, so tidiness is essential - the alternative is madness🤪. Having said that, even when we had 25ft T/A caravans, we still lived the same way and have always kept things simple with everything in it’s place. Mind you, our house doesn’t come under the same rules.😃

For us it is pretty quick - no awning. Kettle and kitchen towel holder under dinette seat. Bowl with trivet and knife block dropped inside and under same seat. Narrow tray kettle sits on and two that we use for breakfast toast, snacks or sandwiches in drawer along with travel clock, and cutting board into drawer. Toaster away. Tablets on seats along with fruit bowl and cushion on top. That is our internal tidy. 10 mins with wipe down I suppose.

If we are moving caravan OH pumps water to wastemaster rinsing mugs at same time whilst I remove EHU, water pump, tow ball cover and fit mirrors, pass aquaroll inside. Another 10 mins. 10 mins to empty wastemaster and store inside.

OH off to take barrier key and call at loo whilst I wind legs and hitch - 15mins. So fr us 45 mins from start to hitch and go.

If we were in camper van and not emptying and filling we could be off in 15 to 20 mins I suspect

We have only recently changed to a MH and are finding moving on much quicker. As TW says there is less space, so tidiness is essential. Where previously we had a coffee maker, electric kettle and toaster to be put away, now we just have a gas kettle, filter jug and use the grill. Where as we used to leave cups etc out, now they get put away when finished with. The only thing that could potentially result in a delay is dumping waste water. If we were in a hurry I would probably dump the evening before. I suppose as gas is refillable and not really a consideration, we could even coil up the EHU the night before and save a few more minutes.😀

I take off heel lock night before and usually empty toilet cassette in case it rains next morning

We stopped off in Lucerne on our way to Italy last week. Because the campsite offered a 30% discount if checking out before 9am we actually managed to get going in time despite having a good shower first although the alarm didn’t wake us up until 7:30. Must have been a record for us!

doesn't the coffee maker not slide back up into its 'slot?...

does the awning have to be out?

the bikes may easily have been rolled into the garage after the last trip out...

...and would I really want to come back after a day out to dirty frying pans and half empty bottles?.....and I thought is was we MHers that slummed itwink

I think the point is, certainly for us, if we are off to visit 'somewhere' distant in the MH it probably comes at the end of that stay and becomes the first part of the next stay....we have many 'stays' in one tour...

so, if we were leaving the site for another place, we have no need to come back...

I suppose that the length of your stay, and/or frequency of departure affects how you tidy you are in your outfit?

It is certainly like with us, if it is just a weekend then things are kept fairly tidy so that we don't 'waste' too much time at the end of the stay in putting things away

But if it is longer then things are left out as they are more convenient to have the charger, coffee pot, books, whatever… left out just where we want them, if we are running late then yes the washing up can wait till later and yes it will take more time to get the caravan ready for towing at the end, but I see that as one advantage of having a caravan is that you don't have to be as tidy all the time, just like home really.

Actually, the reference to a bottle of wine was only meant to be a possible example. We hardly drink any ourselves, but generally use it for cooking purposes only - hence the half empty bottle in the kitchen.

Have just returned from an extended weekend at Black Knowl. Of 130 pitches, 2 were unoccupied all 4 nights, 3 were out of service due to seeding. 2 of the 18 serviced pitches had MH on, the others were caravans for 3 of 4 nights. That ratio appeared a quick rule of thumb across the weekend in terms of MH:Caravan with predominantly families on site. Many of the families are there for the half term week, from conversations held. When we left there were roughly 50% of pitches vacant on the 4th Night, the BH Monday.

I towed down Friday to arrive as close to opening as poss, with 2 other dads doing the same I learned on checking in. Pitch up, set, up, awning up etc then go and collect family after school / work

An awful lot of bicycles were evident, from kiddies to old fashioned, to big fat tyred mounting bikes, regular mountain bikes and e-bikes.

A lot of Cadacs outside units. Couldn't see into units if frying pans were in use.

Glass receptacles were overflowing each morning with piles of bottles stacking up. Predominantly wine bottles, not sure if red or white was most consumed, other than in our unit it was white, with a few beer bottles from afternoon refreshments. Wifey didn't polish of a full bottle of gin, so we brought the part used bottle home.

On our trips out by cycle or car, all the other sites on our journeys were displaying 'Site Full' signs from the next door basic Forestry Commission site, the 4 Camping in the Forest Sites, 5 CL's and 1 other commercial site we use in the winter., we passed.

There were loads of people out walking, cycling and driving  throughout the New Forest. Great to see.

    Sun burnt us too.

For Me the main advantage of the motorhome (6 metre Panel van conversion) , over our Caravan is the setting up time, admittedly  we usually deployed an awning as well. Literally minutes, whereas the Caravan AND the awning could take anything upto 2 hours incl. pegging down. Just the Caravan would be a lot less of course.

So, I dont think Dominate is the right word, Preponderance in some circumstances.

    ie Out of school holidays.

When we last used an awning (7 years ago) We would arrive on site just after 12 and expect to be sat down with a butty and a brew by 1pm or heading out in the car. With my current mobility it probably would be 2 hours set up with awning laughing

Why must someone always make parts of these discussions into "I can do it quicker/better/cheaper (choose appropriate word) than others"? And what the heck has it to do with the OP?
