Hi,

Could people please make any suggestions/recommendations  for  a medium size drive-away awning for a 2019 Ducato (Sunlight Cliff) - that's very very easy to put up and take down?

Thanks!

Graham

Why do you want one?? Better to have a wind out canopy IMHO, easier to use, takes up no storage and always with you!

Hi Graham. Typically awnings either attach to the existing awning rail or use throw over straps, (which may snag on aerials, roof lights solar panels etc). You need to know the height and width you need to suit the size of your MH.

We have a Vango Kela II, air awning. Yes, 15 minutes to blow up then half an hour to peg out and set up. So bets part of an hour before we are sat in it with a cup of tea! There are plenty of YouTube videos showing you how they set up etc.

so, advice for both sides of the 'case' above...

personally, we would side with Michael, in that we don't need an awning for storage reasons as we have a large garage where all our 'stuff' ( incl bikes) live out of sight.

similarly, if the weather if good and we fancy a cuppa (or, more likely a viño) it will be outside in the sunshine, not in an awning...

if the weather is't so good, we'd rather sit in the van.

perhaps having never done caravanning (where awnings seem de rigeur) or tenting, we just don't see the point of them....for sitting in, but again that's just a personal thing.

...and of course, it's more stuff to carry and store....and depending on your touring style and frequency of stops, the number of times you'll put it up and take it down....

    good luck with the search...

we use the canopy to sit under if it's hot ,and use a small pup tent to store things in that we don't want to cart round in the M/H when we go off site ,and it makes a good pitch marker as well …………….

Our motorhome came with a sun canopy and a safari room. Use the former tried the latter once. Too much effort and didn't see the need for it in the 12 years we've motorhomed. We've never caravanned.

Bikes stay secured on the rack on the back if we have them with us. We tend to leave table as a marker if we go off site with van. All other 'living' bits with us for use when we're out 😉
