I don’t doubt a thing you say, DD, and I’m not arguing in any way. My intention is just to save Q forking out unnecessarily.

Steadies aren’t often required on the size of MH Q wants, although they may be fitted, and it doesn't actually take much extra on the wheelbase to make pitching a different experience. These are all points Q might like to consider.

I would go with TW on the levelling of a sub 6.5 metre MH. I can only think of one site (aCL) where we had difficulty getting level. Even driving up onto ramps takes us all of 30 seconds the rare occasion we use them.

The only time I have seen air suspension on a MH in this country was a massive self built conversion. To be honest how he got something the size of the Sky (now Ineos) Death Star onto the said grass meadow CL called for total respect, but this chap really could drive and parking that on grass, nothing phased him.

We don’t even use the steadies on our MH, let alone f@rt about trying to get a bubble level. If Q is considering something small- medium size, I would try touring life out first, you can do an awful lot of touring with £5k

We have adjustable air filled spring assisters fitted as standard on the rear of our AS, TDA. It’s a posh name for air bags😂

I thought the great benefit of MHs was, as has often been said, the ability to "park, engage hand brake, put kettle on, sorted". Glad we never had to fork out thousands to enable us to level our van! smile

It's all about making life easier Rocky and not being too concerned at the uneven state of a pitch. I use my motorhome a lot and hydraulic levelling was worth every penny.

For me it’s all about cost effectiveness-£3/£5k gear or mandraulics. I’ll keep the brass trousered👍🏻. I also realise that it’s an each to their own call too.

My view would be to consider if / how this would affect payload 1st.

The Elldis Buccaneer caravans have self-levelling fitted as standard but I’ve noticed they start at over £32000. Is this what the system costs?

I'd liike to see it in action.

That seems a very high percentage as there are so many rental vans out there that won't be members of either club.

I had a right game levelling the MH on a pitch in Metz a few days back. Did it sideways in the end which was relatively easy. Fore and aft "a la CAMC" was impossible. A lot of MH's are 'nose-down' to start which on a perfectly level pitch requires ramps. If there is a slight slope they can be dispensed with but it restricts the orientation. Caravans can cope with greater angles than MH's, I think.

on long stays in the winter in Spain I like many others hire a car or stay on sites with good transport links.

Does that matter as long as what you're doing suits you? There are no rules about type of use which is why I find it strange when people doing what you describe attract adverse comments from others.

Was there no room up on the level tarmac section at the top?
