hi all

can anyone tell me why lots of the club sites say you can have tents but you cannot have EHU

also why are tent spaces in different places surely if there is a pitch on grass why not let a tent pitch there

and before anyone asks i have a motorhome but my children (adult) have tents

thanks

I guess the simple answer is that electricity isn’t laid on to tent pitches.

Tents are charged at a much lower rate than other units so maybe that’s the reason they’re not permitted to use other grass pitches.

Other than that, you’d need to ask the club.

I realise this doesn't answer your post, Eon, but I think that you all would be better off if you were members of the Camping and  Caravanning Club, as they are much more geared up for those wishing to use tents as well as LVs.

Some certainly offer electric on tent pitches, Brecon and Morvich I know about. You would have to check each location however as there does not seem to be a search for this feature.

As to using tents on standard electric grass. I would think one reason the club wouldn't want to do it, is the damage the grass could suffer. Even with breathable groundsheets in awnings this can be a problem. In all the tents we owned the bedroom bit was fitted and non breathable, so not even any scope for raising. After a week on site the grass was very yellowed.

It is the Caravan club and tents are being accepted on sites that have space, and have EHUs for tents on some of the larger sites, but as mentioned it may be an idea for your relatives to join the Camping and caravan club  which is their main purpose you could then join them and in some cercumstances be pitched near
