Hello, hope you tv tech folks can help. Whilst away last time the tv was set up and worked fine for a few days and then switch on and get no signal and unable to tune in. The tv and aerial lead in use at home so no problem with those .The roof aerial is a Status directional one, the amplifier red light is on so presume that is ok ?  all connections to amp. appear ok. Any ideas how to test the connections with or without multi meter would be appreciated.

Can you eliminate TV by trying it in the house? My bet is on a cabling/joint/connection issue. However, before this has the booster in the van been turned on/off? Has the switch been caught and turned down or off? Lots to go at before skipping the TV!

Over the years I have had two Status amplifiers fail, so they can go wrong. I can't remember if the light operated or not but that itself is no assurance the thing "works" only it is getting power.

Agree test set at home so know that is not the problem.

If in a good signal area the Status probably does not need the amplifier, so one test is to route the aerial directly to the TV, completely side stepping the amplifier. That could prove the aerial itself is "good" andd if so points to amplifier or wiring. There is nothing really but a wiring issue to stop the aerial working,  and these are far from unknown. Typically, a loose strand of the copper wire sheathing braid can short to the centre pin.

Carefully unscrewing each plug  and reassembling could fix that. However as it once worked it must be a long shot.

Borrow the next door van's amplifier, if that is looking to be the issue. It is just a two screw and pulling a few plugs job to do a test.

After the last Status amplifier failed I purchased a Fringe  unit as a replacement, so far been lucky with that. This accepts the Status power plug.

Like this but I found it somewhat cheaper:

Yep, agree with ocsid, have you a 'fly lead' you could try.between the elements in the cabling? For example directly out of the booster to back of TV cutting out internal cabling and connections in the 'fabric' of the van?

I would try a new cable between wall and tv first. If you are repeatedly removing and fitting this it can break. Centre wire is usually solid and can crack.

Thanks for replies.Good idea to connect tv direct to amplifier We tried tv and the fly lead at home so know those items are ok. Strange failure occurred after 4days,with no movement of van ( to cause loose contacts due to vibration ) I now am thinking the amp. Is problem
