we are thinking of buying a amercan caravan flagstaff 26 it can be towed by our car the only problem we can see is the two slide outs open on left hand side just wondering if the club whould allow this as we would have to park car on the right

Hi Cabbiemick
Can't see a problem on club sites. The slide outs will only be a maximum of three feet deep, so I guess you won't have an awning. Parking the car on the other side isn't a problem. Check the size of your towball as American hitches are 2 5/8" not the 2 inch common with euro vans, also check the weight. We've had a lot of smaller fifth wheelers and travel trailers on site in the past. Some wardens think "RV? no way" but being an RVer myself I know they are more manoeuvrable and more spacious than any euro van.
Is your dealer in Lincolnshire by any chance?

No problem with parking your car the other side, Cabbie.
I'm sure you’ll have checked the weight is compatible with your car and that it’s UK road legal in terms of length and width, that it's in line with your driving licence categories, has UK electrics and that spares are available.
Above all, though, is it manoeuvrable on our little roads?

Hey
I wasn't being exact, I know euro towballs are 50mm, American ones are 2 5/8", can't be bothered to translate to mm!!!
The reason I mentioned it is in February we had to rescue an American travel trailer that was being towed by a range rover and had parted company. They had managed to get all the way down to the Costa Blanca near us. The car was a write off, just as well as the v8 diesel in it was shot pulling that weight. There are a few unscrupulous rv dealers in the UK, just trying to raise an awareness
