We are booked into this site at the weekend, can anyone give us any tips on the hard standing pitches - looking at the pictures and reading a couple of reviews they mention concrete or are the pitches gravel and can an awning be pegged down into it. Any pitch tips are welcome. Thanks

I have only seen one concrete hardstanding pitch, non awning 207. We have visited several times and always booked an awning pitch. These are hardstanding on gravel and grass. We only have a pull out, but never had any problems with getting pegs in, on the hardstandings, for that or the rotary cloths drier.

They are the usual chipping type of HS, or grass.

There are 2 or 3 concrete pitches near the lower facility block but they weren’t in general use last year but kept for emergencies. They look similar to the base of a demolished building.

I can't recall any problems putting our awning up, we took our caravan there a few years back. There are gravel and grass pitches.

It is some time since we were there but I think the concrete pitches, if still in use will be non awning. There are tarmac pitches on other sites that are non awning. If you have any doubts though ring the site.

TW yes they are a base of an old building an American hospital base during the second world war the Camping club next door still has a building also the girl guides.

As already said they are Non awning pitches when we stayed there a few years ago some of the hardstandings did have some new gravel put on them 2 years ago but not all of them.

I remember the C&CC site when they used the old military buildings for reception and facility blocks.

I didn’t see any concrete on the CAMC site last year other than pitches 208-210 but I’ll not swear that I didn’t miss any. Oh, yes, 207 as well! All four of them are non- awning.
