Disappointed at attitude of some members

Spent a super time at Lower Wensleydale site over Easter holidays. What a super site with excellent wardens. Just can't believe how some of our members behave. The lady who stays in the adjacent house (old quarry masters house) allows members to use her private driveway to get into town the only stipulation is that dog owners keep dogs on leads and pick up after them. It was amazing the number of people who just ignore this and let their dogs run free. We also witnessed a lady who just arrived on site, go up the drive and pick some of the lady's flowers from the driveway and had them displayed in pride of place in the front window of her caravan. I would imagine it is only a matter of time until the gate is locked and members have to take the long way into town

As ever, the few spoil things for the rest of us.

I hope somebody from the club apologises to the lady on behalf of the errant members.

    +1

She is being too kind, if it were me I'd shut the gate - permanently.

We paid our first visit to Lower Wensleydale site last month, and have to agree that the couple who own the cottage are extremely generous and tolerant in letting Site visitors use that lower gate and what is their driveway. If I witnessed anyone abusing this, in terms of not picking up, or letting dogs roam free, then I would try and have a polite word and shame them into not spoiling things for everyone else. Lower Wensleydale doesn’t have a dog walk, there’s only the old quarry road at the entrance to the site, so this little path is an absolute godsend as well as quite a shortcut into Leyburn.

As for vandalising their lovely garden plantings, I wouldn’t hesitate to have a word and point out it’s thieving. Some folks beggars belief at times.

Unfortunately I have to say that I continue to be unsurprised at the depths that society plumb to, the membership of the club included. There are c350,000 members. Is it any surprise to anyone that, amongst us, are those who couldn't give a damn about anyone else but those in their immediate sphere, especially themselves.

I find the same among a much smaller sample in my own village.

The only way or two to combat it is to either shame them when they are caught in the act or report them. Damn shame that society has come to this though.

Bet that she'd still get some trying to get that way to town, probably by climbing over the gate!! Some people have no consideration for other's property these days.

I don't think the poor lady whose flowers are being stolen would know the difference or care. They've come from the club premises so the club gets tarnished as does every decent member along with it.
