Route advice
Advice please on a route from Belford in Northumberland to Bangor North Wales. I had planned to come down the A1 to Newcastle the across to the M6 on the A69. However I have been told that this is not suitable with a caravan as the change from downhill to uphill is so sharp that the caravan is at risk of grounding. Has anyone been on the A69 and what was your experience. I have a Lunar Clubman which is 7.3 metres.
Thanks in advance.

No problem on that road, done it often with a similar sized caravan. I don't know who told you about chances of grounding but I'm sure they were pulling your leg. If you're concerned just slow down a bit.

Where do you intend stopping en route? There is a good stop at the Chester services on the M56 with a caravan designated area. If stopping for the night and breaking the journey the site at Chester would suit as it's easy access from the M53 just a one stop hop up from where it meets the M56.

If you do stop there then be aware that when you want to get back on the M56 there is no access from the M53. Go left on the A5117, straight over 3 roundabouts and follow the sign. It's easy and not far. This will take you onto the A55 to Bangor. Busy route, especially heading west on a Friday.
Coincidentally we'll be heading t'other way, up to the Lakes then across A69!😀

We have done the A69 with our 7.2 meter Lunar Quasar no issues in fact it was quite a pleasant drive some nice views. I agree with what others have said about Chester it would be an ideal stop and is a nice site. I recommend The Rake Pub which is just a 5 min walk from the site nice place and do meals at a reasonable price.
