Shock Absorbers
Hiya folks.
The caravan I’ve got my eye on (Lunar Clubman) comes fitted with shock absorbers. This will be the third ‘van I’ve owned, but the first fitted with these. Can someone please tell what the benefits are?
Cheers...Freddy.

Less jarring and jolting to the van. They even out the bumps in the same way shocks on your car do.

Like a lot of these things you won`t notice any difference unless you were to tow the caravan without and then with absorbers for some period of time. All I can say is the Clubman tows superbly and unless you fly over speed bumps does`nt throw everything around the lockers quite as much as previous vans without them.

The benefits are obvious which made me wonder why you asked.
Can you truly say you've not needed shocks before? Have you experienced units shifting slightly or even cracking, doors flying open, contents of cupboards falling out, cushions shifting, clothes jumping off the wardrobe rail? I certainly have and it’s my guess you have too. While shock absorbers may not stop all that completely, they will surely help reduce the problems. We had an Elddis that suffered badly from moving furniture units and cracked bulkheads and fitting shocks made a terrific difference.
No, it’s not something new and top of the range vans have had them fitted for many, many years.

I had Al-Ko shock absorbers fitted to one of my caravans (before they became a standard fitting) I felt there was an improvement in the van's steadiness on the road rather than bounce along! Everything was intact inside the van whether they were fitted or not. Shock absorbers can affect the fitting on some motor movers so best to check with who ever makes the mover of choice.

I’m not going to say it’s never happened, but I can’t remember an incident? Certainly not a big issue, for me. I should probably take more notice 🙂

How about bumpy B class roads?
