Dometic fridge

Dometic fridge seems to be working ok when on.ecu .

However when attached to the car with the engine running it makes the warning beep sound.

You can drive for a couple of hours stop in the services.  Leave the engine running and it still emits  the warning sound .

I've had the van from new and it's coming up for 2 years old. This problem has only recently started to occur.

The fridge seems cold on the inside . But this could be due to attached  to an ecu  before departure.

Any ideas ?

It's not connected to its 12 volt feed from tow vehicle when engine is running. Check that the socket pin on the tow vehicle has power. If it has then check the caravan plug, could be just a contaminated poor connection pin.

As above, and as you have a young van its probably a 13 pin on your car so check for voltage between pins 10 and 11 when engine is running.

Hi mrp we have a similar problem with our Dometic 6 months old works perfectly on EHU connect to the car and it will switch on on but when you reach destination the alarm is sounding.13 pin socket tested and everything is ok with that. Van has to go in for some warranty work have asked for it to be checked.

What was the result of having checked by the dealer?

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I had the same problem with a dometic 8551  when hitched to a kia carens. I think in my case the car was failing to provide enough power (low voltage) causing the relay to cycle (there is a van side relay that isolates the van battery from car on hook up to prevent draining the car battery), in my case you could hear the relay click at the MCB before the alarm sounded - this would cycle.  I asked the tow bar fitter to look into it and he tried to adjust the towbar electrics (possibly a relay the car side), which worked for a while but the fault has returned...
