Hi and welcome to the club.  You might consider booking one night at either Wirral Country Park Site or Southport, whichever is nearer for you, and have your 'practice' on a site where you could chat to other vanners and, perhaps gain some useful help and/or information.

Consider also doing a towing course if you're new to towing.

Make lists smile  I keep an inventory of what's on board (handy for any possible insurance claim).

Don't buy every accessory in the shop.  Make do for a few trips and see how you manage and then buy what you really need.  Go for lightweight non-breakable crockery.

Any questions - just have a browse through the discussions and post your questions in the appropriate section.

    Happy caravanning.

When you go out try everything works including on gas. Try the fridge on gas. Also all sockets, including any 12 volt ones. There's probably a volt meter over the door, read that when you firts open the caravan, then again after towing and sometime with a hookup. That will show that the car is charging the battery and that the mains charger works.
