Definitely £2.50, I've been through with the caravan for the last 2 years.
Easiest way to pay is open an account on the website and add your payment details. Your just debited automatically then and get a receipt via email.
When are you travelling , it only applies between 6am and 10pm outside of this its free.

We are going to Canterbury later in the year which will involve using the Dartford crossing. I don't have a problem with the £2.50 fee paid in advance for the one crossing ( returning to the north via a route to the west of London ) .. Can someone explain the difference between the bridge and the tunnel ? Do you use either ?

I got charged 3.50 for my VW campervan (via a penalty notice) instead of 2.50.
Does anyone know how I can tell DART that my van is a 'motorhome'?
Through DVLA?
Thanks

Your V5 should show your vehicle as a Motor Caravan. You could send a copy of it to Dart. If it doesn’t show Motor Caravan, you need to approach DVLA to get it changed.

I assume you mean your Penalty Charge notice is £35 rather than £3.50? What that suggests is that you have not paid the toll, not a wrong classification. The £2.50 charge for the Dart Toll covers several categories of vehicles including cars/minibuses/motorhomes, I can't see any distinction between a VW Camper and a Motorhome? I thought when you purchased a toll charge you had to put the vehicle registration number in so it should have picked up automatically what vehicle it is. That's what happened last year when I made a one off payment to use the Dart Crossing.

It does indeed David. We still have an account and alongside the registration number it lists the class (B), make, that it’s a Hymer and model.

If WT’s camper van is somehow classified as a van it should have picked that up when the registration was entered for payment and the charge levied would have been £3.0 (class C) rather than £2.50. It shouldn’t let you pay for the wrong class. Perhaps WT’s payment didn’t go through, hopefully they have the receipt and can challenge the fine.

Yes, I think his "proof of purchase" is what he needs to send to the DVLA? I am assuming he paid via the Dart Charge website rather than somewhere locally which I understand is also a possibility?

For anyone with a Dart Charge a/c, from 28th July '23 Emovis are taking over the running of the system & you need to re-validate your payment option...
Good news is that a minimum payment will be reduced to £5 & not the current 10 when your balance falls below the 'threshold'.....
