But what if your neighbour on the caravan side, of your pitch arrangement, has a continental/opposite door caravan. The 6m would then mean that they have to pitch in a different manner to yourself. The way it is at present is fair to one and all.

My point exactly, do what ever you wish as long as the 6&3s are maintained and there is no detrimental effect on the adjacent pitches doing exactly the same.

is it? I thought it was a no man's land not used by anyone, merely there to ensure units are kept far enough apart...

cant have storm straps encroaching into the 6s and 3s can we...?

I thought in that instance,  people pitched tow hook in with the peg on the near side. I think that was in the pitching instructions at the last site we visited.

Not helpful if up against a hedge and living area at front unless they like studying hedges when sat in the caravan

Currently, pitching either forward or rearwards with the appropriate corner (F/N/S or R/O/S to the peg) is the rule, Lunar. It’s the member’s choice.

Your words above explain exactly why there would be a problem with some vans being forced to pitch a certain way around if their door was on the O/S. You would take away their choice by having them pitch van/awning/car. In fact you would remove everyone’s choice.

In many cases it would not be possible to go nose in, if the van in question didn’t have a mover. Further removing choice, or perhaps no choice at all if that was the only pitching option left.

If the door is on the  O/S  then pitching nose first would be the only  option, especially if they wanted to use an awning.

Before  we switched to a caravan we had a German motorhome with an O/S door, we regularly used to drive onto a pitch nose first so that we wouldnt be stepping out facing a neighbour with a nearside door. I would have thought anyone buying a caravan with an O/S door would  have invested in a mover at the outset.

And Tinwheeler pitching nose first if you have an O/S door wouldn't make any difference to the layout I proposed.

Hi Lunarcpl,  There are other sorts of sites where they even let you pitch sideways.  This one is private enterprise in Devon - 30 scattered pitches.

Really, your obtuseness does astound me.

And yours astounds me also. Personally I have no concern whether a neighbours continental style door is opposite to my door nor do I expect them to have to motornove in nose first.

We were on site a few years ago having just pitched up when a couple arrived with am Eriba on the next pitch and were starting to turn it round by hand. They weren't young and I offered to help but asked why they wanted to turn it around. They said so as not to impose on us. I said that if they were not concerned we would not be and so they left it nose out. Why would they not?

If the door is on the  O/S  then pitching nose first would be the only  option, especially if they wanted to use an awning.

With the present CC pitching layout that is mot a consideration nor a problem

You are somewhat missing my point, Lunar. At present, any of us can choose to pitch nose in or rear in with an awning one side and a car the other. Assuming an awning is to be used, your arrangement would force vans with the door on the o/s to pitch nose in and, similarly, vans with the door on the n/s would have to pitch rear in.

You would remove what little choice currently exists and make pitching arrangements more restrictive and regimented.

Btw, I’m still waiting to hear if you've reported the breaching of spacing regs to head office. It’s a major safety concern affecting us all if this is happening.

I think we are going to  have to agree  to disagree on this one Tinwheeler.

Not to worry as soon as the weather warms up we will be back to visiting naturist campsites,  they have much more space, and a more laid back  clientele .

The situation at Tewksbury was reported to the site staff at the time. What was missing there was this three meters grass strip that everyone is talking about.

Yes, we will continue to disagree because you cannot seem to see how restrictive your plan is but I’ll not worry about it in the slightest.😄

Why do you consistently aim comments, veiled and otherwise, towards club members, Lunar? You don’t endear yourself by doing so.

Are you saying the Tewkesbury wardens did nothing when you pointed out the lack of space between units?

As long as your van was 6m from mine and you kept your clothes on, all would be well. You clearly get a kick out of this, Lunar.😝

I'm not sure which is sadder - the fact that you posted that or the fact that two posters have rushed in to "like" it. What a poor reflection of some folk's views of their fellow members! frown

Enemies - who? Different opinions don’t make for enemies here. It’s not real life after all. 😛
