Towing a trailer with a motorhome
I've been discussing with a friend regarding towing with a motorhome. Our two families are looking at going away together and my friend is hoping to upgrade his motorhome. We've been looking at the market and he wants a 4 wheel motorhome that will tow a trailer and a city type car. looking at current options there doesn't appear to be many options on a 4 wheel chassis that goes much towing weight whilst keeping within the legal limits. I just wondered if anyone on here could perhaps offer some advice regarding towing, weights and legalities.
Thanks,
Martin
(First ever post so hope its been done so appropriately, apologies if incorrect).

It depends on two things. The licence held by the driver and the legal allowable towing weights of the MH.
Driving licence info can be found in the Advice and Training tab at the head of the page. The vehicle's limits will depend on its allowable towing weight, including axle loading and GTW.

Welcome to CT. You can keep the towed weight down with the addition of convenience by using an A-Frame as long as you do not want to take the car onto the Continent where the use of A-Frames is not considered legal. Most City cars are fairly light weight. I tow a Suzuki Celerio using a Towbars2Tow electronic A-Frame. Total weight just over 850Kgms with less than 10Kgm loading on the tow bar but I never use it on the Continent where I find it is largely unnecessary. If I require a car over there, I hire one.
