Buying a new (second hand) towing car.
We are looking for a new (second hand) towing car and would like to hear your recommendations. Our caravan has a MTPLM of 1400, and MRO 1244.
Ideally we would like to purchase a car about 2 or 3 years old.
Looking forward to hearing your replies.

Kia have longer 7 year warranties so a 2 year old will still have quite a bit left on it so have a look at the Sorrento/Sportage?

We do prefer an SUV car. We would like to hear what car you are towing with and how pleased or otherwise you are with it.

we have a Sorrento, and best tow car we have ever had, powerful engine, lots of space in the back (third row down), tows well. Lots of toys for the price, KX2s upwards have self levelling suspension. About 28mpg towing but had up to 44mpg on combined runs solo. About town only though it's a bit thirty and difficult to park as it's so big.

Two Jeep Wranglers, and an MGB! Make of that what you will.......🤔

Also be mindful of buying a nearly new car that had an original list price of over 40K, you get stung for extra RFL (£100's) for the first five years of its life. i.e. what may cost £130 to tax when six years old is going to cost £500 a year, so what looks like a bargain initially catches some people out.
Quite happy with our Freelander 2, tows 2000kg and has a 150kg nose weight. will return 27mpg with our 1500kg Elddis behind it.
Only thing is production ended in 2014 so may be too old for you and engine is euro 5 so will not meet inner city ULEZ requirements, which is something else you may want to make sure whatever you go for is the minimum euro 6 requirement for a Diesel and 4 for Petrol.

Nice! We considered a Stag, bit more room for dogs (😂). We towed with our MGB GT, but not this one. Haldon Hill didn’t do the clutch much good........
We tend to go for full on 4x4s for towing, we like grass pitches and CLs.

I'll show you mine if... sorry to OP for going a little off thread

Absolutely beautiful. Such a lovely car, and nice colour as well. Our MG isn’t up to that standard at the moment, has new interior, but watch this space.......someone got her pension lump sum this month, and a respray is on the list! Currently teal blue, but I am leaving it up to OH to choose.
All I can say to OP to help is choose wisely if you like grass pitches.

Thank you MM, yes it is a Mk2 but a very early one so left the factory (August 73) built using a Mk1 shell so unofficially refereed to as a Mk1.5

Don't want to hijack the OP thread, Sorry OP, but most obvious thing is Mk1 had steel wheels. Mk1 shell has different door locks to Mk2. lots of other anorak things, but too many to go into on someone else's thread.
A lot of my blood sweat and tears in that car, Oh, and some money
Apologies to OP
