Renting out a Tourer
Years ago I rented out a tourer in the summer for pocket money - just wondering about doing the same with my old van in the orchard. Apart from Insurance issues has anyone else done it recently?

Beware of the need for gas and electrical safety checks if you’re letting it, Pippah. It’s a different kettle of fish once you start charging folk to use it - quite different from when it’s only for your own use.

True, health and safety issues like PAT testing will now be required, gas safely certificates. A whole new ball game nowadays. If you know any farmers who take on seasonal pickers, they might give you the low down on what’s now required. We have used farm CLs that have have statics elsewhere for seasonal labour.

It's not actually Portable Appliance Testing but an electrical safety test of the van's systems. No doubt there’ll be a requirement for a smoke detector, fire extinguisher and goodness knows what else. It could be a minefield.😕

I stand corrected😁long time since I was involved in anything H&S related.

I know, Husky, and in a lot of cases all you can do is inspect the cable!
The van itself would need a safety/compliance certificate from an accredited sparky.

Standard insurance policies do not cover hiring and one that does will cost considerably more and you will need a specialist broker to arrange this. Appreciate you have thought this may be a problem.
Personally I do not want random members of the public potentially damaging my caravan but that is a personal opinion.
