Nah, something to do with Shamrocks and Guinness. 😁

a warden wandering around the site this morning with her petrol leaf blower.
Might this have been not a leaf blower but an all inclusive blower, and the warden was in fact blowing something else alltogether? Worm casts spring to mind.

"Afternoon Facilities cleaning, when nearly everyone is offsite makes much more sense"
Not to me, it doesn't. A wash at one of the much maligned privacy cubicles in the morning to freshen up and then a shower in the afternoon/evening after a day out walking. Mind you, if the block were closed I've got a really good alternative wheeze - sit with a beer outside the van and wait for them to be opened again!

an instructor David? that sound like teaching? You know what they, those that can...
Oh if you want the short answer between teachers and instructors - really there isn't any at the 'chalkface' or student end.
well apart from (generally) teachers get more money, better status, better jobs and conditions, actually help society not an individual company, paid for by taxes, that sort of stuff. Get a textbook on it.

One of many roles in a 35 year career , the easiest and the least satisfying, much preferred a proper job at the coal face.
I can imagine David. When I was just turned 40 my boss had got a promotion and wanted me to join him in a new department. More money, organising others to do the work that I could do better than them
Thankfully, as much as I hated disappointing him, I declined after talking with my wife.

It wasn't for you, great

On the basis that one of the first places many new arrivals head for is the toilets, perhaps the booking-in process should be moved over there . . . . ?

Morning
So, last Friday was opening day for most club sites. I'm guessing most wardens have been up against the weather to get their sites ready and presentable in time (we do take pride). I'm guessing that leaf blower lady is a new starter this year and was gaining experience in using the site machinery whilst the site is relatively quiet. The club invests heavily in training as our role attracts people from all walks of life, some folk have never touched machinery in their life. New starters have an initial weeks training on all aspects of the job, then when they are assigned their first contract, they begin a two year ongoing training module that is very similar to an nvq and they are appraised weekly by the wardens. So, not a complete waste of time, effort and resources at all. What we do is all about working safely. Using any item of machinery without efficient knowledge and experience say on a full site in school holidays I'm sure your comments would have been a bit different?

All you do with leaf blowing, is re distributing, unless you direct the leaves to an area where you then pick them up, dispose of them properly, eradicating "leaf blowing" as a daily occurrence? At the end of the day, there are only so much leaves on trees.

I've no idea whether the site had just opened or not, it was our second choice as the CL we'd originally booked was very wet & the owner advised against coming.
We're talking a leaf blower here .... start engine .... point that bit to (imaginary) leaf & off you go. Not a huge combine or JCB

Hi
Doesn't matter what site you were on, even all year sites will have new starters.
My point, explained above. Imagine a full site, inexperienced person blows gravel into some ones face, or onto an outfit. The smallest tool be it a blower or even a pair of shears has the possibility to cause harm in the wrong hands. Doesn't need to be a tractor or a chainsaw. Training reduces risk.
You could have, if it was actually bothering you, gone to ask the staff about your concerns. They would gladly explain and even moved away if the thought it was a nuisance

Thank you for taking the time to put the situation into proper perspective. I think we will end it here.
Thanks
David

I am not paid to watch the wardens. I do not care what they do, when they do it or why they do it. I have had no issues with any of the sites that I have stayed on so far, so I will continue not to care about how someone else does their job.

I had a friend who was a nurse. She told hilarious stories, some horrific of folk using even the simplest household tool and injuring themselves or others. Even the complete novice needs a safe introduction I'm sure to such machinery and the opportunity to discover effective use and how it reacts. These things are heavy and have a torque which fights against the user, quite tiring to use if fighting against that centrifugal force.
