Caravan storage cover which is best?

We have finally found suitable and available storage for our new caravan but in a temporary position under some trees until another space becomes free.

What type of cover would be best?  A full cover or just a roof cover?

never seen a roof cover, only full. also have you a solar panel on the roof as a cover would render this useless.

We do have a solar panel on the roof yes.  I didn't think of that.

I was advised to get a cover due to the trees that the van would be parked under.  Someone said about roof covers.

is there anyway other than a cover to protect the van from the mess leaves will make?   A product or anything that can be applied?

Roof covers do exist but any type of cover brings its own difficulties.

It’s a toss up - mucky roof or manhandling a cover and losing the solar panel usefulness, or parking elsewhere. No easy answer, is there?

You're right Tinwheeler.  The van is currently on our drive and is only a temporary measure as we have to park our car on a neighbours drive.  The only places other than this to store it is a near flooded field or this place with the trees which is coming free next week.   Maybe we will have to take the option of cleaning it - I suppose the exercise it will give me will be a bonus.  haha.

The solar panel issue is surmountable. Have a clear plastic panel fitted.

try a good solid car wax ( not the liquid one's ) and put a good coat of that on the roof but don't rub it of as to get a shine but leave it as. may give a good protective coating till you can move to another position.

Try it and see, Newone. The problem with the trees might not be as bad as you anticipate. You can always reconsider a cover later or look to move the van once time’s not an issue.

I had my cover altered to include a clear panel where the SP was- works a treat. If you can send a roof plan showing the position of the panel Pro Tec or Specialised Covers will produce what you need.

Ultra High Definition wax by Autoglym is magic stuff. It’s expensive but it goes an awful long way and shine it gives is fabulous. Best place to buy it is from Autoglyms stand at one of the NEC shows. I wouldn’t use anything else now.
