TPMS at a realistic price

This popped up today from a Chinese co. I have used a lot for bits and bobs and have never been disapointed with their service or goods

Compared to Tyrepal which I have,  this is a bargain I would certainly give it a go from past experiance with this co.

Wish I'd seen this a week ago!  Just spent £120 on four new Tyrepal internal sensors because I am about to change all four tyres on our Barcelona after I noticed serious cracking of the sidewall on one of them after just 3 and a half years.  Since the Tyrepal battery life is only 5 years and the batteries aren't replaceable, thought the sensible thing to do would be to replace them now.  Kicking myself just a little bit!undecided

If it was only a week ago can't they be returned, especially if you bought them over the internet.

Actually bought them over the phone because the internal sensors don't feature on their website. Distance Selling Regs may still apply, but can't be bothered now since I have arranged for our local garage to do the work on Tuesday, plus my conscience says that I haven't really got a reasonable reason for rejecting them.

    Reviving an old (ish) post.

My old Tyrepal system (TA22X) is becoming unreliable and the sensors are eating batteries so I am looking for ideas for a replacement.

I only need to monitor the caravan (4 wheels) and I think that the only suitable Tyrepal offering TC215b is quite bulky.

The Tyrepal "Solar" model, which looks similar to the OP suggestion and is more compact, apparently does not have the range to make it suitable for caravans (or trailers).

Any recommendations for a TPMS gratefully received.

the problem I see with this is would the unit pick up the sensors when attached to the caravan, as my tyrepal sometimes cannot see the sensors if the unit is blocked by passengers or luggage. looking at getting an extender so does anybody use one.

Lornalou - I fitted Tyrepal external sensors to our new Knaus Starclass just after we got it in December.  At 8.1m long - with a longer A frame and a big 4x4 to tow it, the distance between the rear van wheels and the monitor is well over 8m.  I thought I was going to have to get the extender since Tyrepal suggest that at over 7m, the extender is required but in actual fact, it works perfectly and that's with the back of the car piled high with kit.

What's more - I know it works!  On the way back from the dealers after a warranty job - and about five miles from home, I was unfortunate enough to get a nail through one of the tyres.  Alarm went off as the pressure fell but fortunately I was able to limp back home.

Dread to think what the consequences might have been had I not been aware.

TC 215 Monitor and ESK 215 external sensors. Previous van was a U3 Barcelona with internal sensors and that worked perfectly as well with no signal problems.

I have always been very happy with my old Tyrepal system and the TC215 looks good so I will probably go with that, it is just that it is going to bug me having 2/3 of the screen redundant.

The internal sensors sound tempting, the biggest problem I have now is caused by water in the screw on covers, Did the internal sensor batteries in your Barcelona last long enough, I don't fancy having the tyres off every year.

"I have always been very happy with my old Tyrepal system and the TC215 looks good so I will probably go with that, it is just that it is going to bug me having 2/3 of the screen redundant."

I some years back now, after talking with Tyrepal, and having no need for their kit on a car factory fitted with TPMS, simply purchased their TB99, four channel kit.

It was never intended for a trailer, just a car or motorhome, but used the same sensors as their trailer specific kit. I only need two sensors, and was advised it "probably" would work using it just for my van, though I was close on its range ability.

Well, it has worked, with just one now cured hiccup. That hiccup was dropping out of the off side caravan wheel signal, it transpired it worked till I sat in the driving seat. Moving the monitor from the centre of the dash to the offside end completely cured that.

I don't know if the newer version the coloured £80 solar would, though I note they say it is not suitable for trailers. Like before I would gamble as the only thing technically inhibiting it is range, that I would as before be quizzing them for an honest technical based rather than marketing based answer.

Stephen - the internal sensors were in for four years with no problems.  I did change them when I had to change the tyres (because of cracking) even though they had probably got another year of their reported 5 year life to run.

If you want the old ones, you can have them  - they probably have best part of a year to go but I can't be sure.

Before I bought the external ones for the new van, I checked with Tyrepal and they told me their performance was just the same as the internal ones but obviously easier to fit.

Can I jump in and ask what tyres you put on your Barcelona please, mine had Michelin green x 185/65r14 86T on from new (S2) Michelin now tell me they don't make a tyre that size for a caravan. and I need to replace them. Stuart York
