rocky, for the 'council' approach, I would have expected a change of use of a few car bays to convert to MHbays, as in my earlier picture, albeit with a tad more spacing...
many car parks are virtually unused at night, so any revenue from a few vans (upto £10 a night in the right place) would soon offset the remaining of a few lines...

I agaree, why not impose a maximum, perhaps 2 nights, as you say...
..but have a ticket, like a car park, makes it easy then identify overstayers...just get the warden to check as he already does with the cars.....and as is done in some French aires.
also, 48hrs would certainly mean no need for EHU and the additional costs....
perhaps one 'stall' in a nearby public loo could be converted to become a CCEP....after all, who actually uses those (often) dirty places, anyway?
many vans go much much longer between services..
very many of the 'aires' in Europe are 'without services'....folk still use them if they're priced correctly and in the right place...
but it has to be a fair bargain...you can't charge full fat campsite prices if not providing something for that fee....

Chester Fairoaks now has an open grid for waste water and two covered drains for Black Waste, clearly marked. Unfortunately the picture is a bit small but if you right click and open in its own window you can see it more clearly.

If you have been to Bingham Grange then your post about "nothing wrong "means that you must have not noted the complete lack of basic water and waste points in the lower area of the site ,the very "basic" ccep, and almost non existant motor caravan emptying point ,the upper part was so packed in with pitches that at times to access /exit some it would mean the next pitch having to move,the only saving grace of the site were "some?" of the washrooms and the good dog walk

That’s the set up I was talking about earlier. I saw several puzzled MH-ers trying to work out what was what and one who eventually discharged his grey waste into the narrow gridded gutter running alongside the grass.

Perhaps the Wardens could { Urgently } request the Club has "ONLY " inserted 'tween the Black dumps & " Grey Water HERE " painted alongside the open grid.
Any body misusing the place then should be reported, swiftly, to the local Constabulary .

However in your haste to be altruistic you seemed not to have realised that very few, if any, caravanners would be likely to habitually relish accommodation cheek by jowl in a car park and certainly not to leave them parked there whilst they go off in the tow vehicle.
I think that, like Baldrick, your 'cunning plan' needs a tad more refining

but this is the whole point.......
the thread is about what could be done for MHers..so we get the usual suggestions about what improvements MH owners would like to sit alongside their (sometimes) different touring habits...
this is immediately followed by squeals from caravan owners who say these improvements can't be for MHers alone...
back comes the ball with a clarification that caravanners would be welcome to use and be part of these changes...
...oh, here it comes (yet again)....but caravanners don't want to be part of any such changes....
at some point, there will be a change made to a site (or sites) that some of us don't make use of, but we can't go round squealing everytime (say) a new or upgraded playground is completed etc..
the whole reason for the OP is that the membership demographic is changing and the increasing MH membership does have (sometimes slightly, sometimes not) differing requirements.
as Stuart said earlier....it was the club that decided to make a big (and expensive) thing about being more inclusive as a result of the rise in MH membership..
having kicked off the idea, members are only putting forward their views as to how these needs could be met.
however, the club, still being the caravan club, should have know that the caravanners, who see nothing in this for them, are (will be) revolting

I think that what was really being said was that the majority of members would not want car park like facilities and that they therefore see no good reason for CC to spend good money fo provide sub standard pitches for the benefit of the few who would use them if available cheaply

It really isn't "few who would use them" .
Those of us who tour Europe know full well that what you call "substandard pitches" are hugely popular and they will prove so here in the UK when they are set up. The world is changing .

Why are members with Motorhomes and Caravanners who like to tour, being classed the same as Gypsy Travellers ??
Some members have some very strong prejudices against other members.
I am very happy with the provision made for Motorhomers.
Just think that the LNA areas could be better utilised.

What I call sub standard pitches are those with insufficient separation. If an organisation wishes to market such pitches then that is up to them and the users as far as I am concerned. I see no part for the CC in providing them. I also consider previous suggestions of taking over parts of CC site car parks as discussed on previous threads to be purely selfish. What, generally limited car parking there is is for the benefit of those using the standard pitches amd are made use of by those and occasional visitors.

how can people justify taking out parts of the car park and so affecting others just so they can get a cheap night is really beyond me?
Why not stay off site or where this sort of parking happens? Too 'timid' perhaps? btw I am only saying that as 'timid' word has often been used against those who use club sites.
It sort of seems like they want all the benefits of a club site but want to pay less for that?

Rather rude to characterise caravaners expressing an opinion as "squealing" surely, BB, no more so than the small cadre of MHers "squawking" for a better deal?
Anyway to get back on topic - three questions:
1) Although none of us can actually know, what percentage of club MHers (let alone MHers as a whole) do you estimate would want to tour in your way in the UK?
2) If it's such a good idea, how come those commercial sites you use and praise so often (Haven, Morris, Concierge et al ) haven't jumped on the bandwagon?
3) If the likes of Lidl and Aldi offer this sort of provision on the continent, have you though of lobbying them to do likewise over here, or, like others, are you just waiting for someone else to make the effort?
