Hi, not sure if I've posted in the right place so apologies if I haven't.

Insurance - ours has a few months left, but I'm a planner so tried for a few quotes today to get a ball park figure and no one will insure us!  We have had 3 claims in the last 2 years. 1 storm damage, 1 a neighbour's shed fell onto it putting a hole in the side wall, and the final one was when our caravan hit another in storage (the only one that was our fault). Has anyone been In a similar situation who can help? x

I am no expert but it does sound as if you may have been blacklisted. Have you spoken to your present insurers. My daughter had some problems with car insurance a few years ago as there was an outstanding claim registered against her ........ somebody had not completed paperwork it would seem and was resolved. If your present insurer is approached and refuses you really should ask in writing why this is,

I would have suggested trying one of the clubs but would try and find the reasons for refusal first and definitely discuss with present insurer

Have you approached our club to see if they will quote.

If not give them a call 01342 488385.

It doesn't usually work that way, LL. Having once been in that position, I too was unable to get recompense from a neighbour's insurance.

Indeed, and the same on site if neighbours car or caravan etc goes on fire and damages yours ........... unless it can be shown that they were negligent

I take it these were on line quotes. These will generally be for simple straightforward policies and people with one or more claims will not fit into this. You need to ring so that the underwrites can look at the risk more fully but I cannot see why you cannot get decent cover with the club or through a specialist broker.

The problem with shed would need to be declared even if this went through the other parties insurer as all accidents need to be declared so would make no difference to the position and might have been far more difficult. It will be recorded on the database of claims and failure to declare this could invalidate your policy.

Some online insurances won't give quotes more than 30 days before you require the new policy to begin.
