Sanyo microwave not reheating in Lunar clubman

A theory. Has your mains connection failed somehow? This might allow the microwave to appear to be working (via 12 volts) but there would not be enough power to heat food. Check something else that requires mains power, one of the front corner lights
for instance. If you have lost mains power it may have tripped out somewhere, including at the pitch hook up post.0 -
It does seem they are installed with inadequate ventilation. They are not special in any way, and the manuals normally state much higher levels of clearance from objects than is provided in our van. Ours, touch wood, is still OK after 2.5 years. Although
we do only tend to use it for short bursts. I think if you routinely used it for cooking jacket potatoes, for instance, it would get far to hot.0 -
I, and a few friends have had this happen. My feeling is that they are not built to take the vibration/buffeting from towing as they are just standard household appliances. You are right, your only choice is a replacement.

just a thought but if its out of warranty the difficulty is sourcing one which will fit. Domestic micros can be very cheap to replace and are not usually worth repairing however in this case it may be I have a friend who repairs them in Lancashire and many
times has stock used spares so ost could be minimal. Let me know if you want his contact details.0 -
microwave not heating in our 16 month old quasar 544 so looks like I will have to replace it as the warranty on the microwave is only 12 months surprise surprise. does anyone know how to remove it so I can do the work myself as I hate the dealers charging a small fortune for something I can do myself.

Ours has the exact same problem. It was working fine a the weekend to defrost dinner but later on the lights and turntable were working but no heating. Did anyone find out how to remove unit to replace it and source a suitably sized replacement!

In our previous two Lunar`s one of the micro`s (both Daewoo) would trip out due to overheating after about ten minutes use, it would restart if left to cool. It was replaced under warranty and ventilation improved with no further issues. Our current Lunar has improved ventilation and same Daewoo and has had no issues. I also suspect that individual units vary on their sensitivity to overheating.

Caravan microwave's are not special. They're relatively easy to remove, mine just needs the wooden trim at the front removed then underneath there are 2 screws that hold it in place. You could take it to a domestic electrical repairer but I suspect you would be better buying another microwave the same size as the old one and replacing it if it's not under guarantee.
