Hyundai Santa Fe
Hello
I am picking up a 2016 premium Santa Fe next week, need the high driving position due to lower back issues. the Volvo V60 D4 has been good but low to get in out of now. The higher stance of the Hyundai means it is easier to load for me
I will be towing an Eldiss Affinity 462 mtplm 1300kg so I know perhaps a bit overkill but I'll be be able to carry a bit more in the car now and I do love my cooking on the cadac
First thing I'll do is get a tow bar fitted not sure which is best though fixed or detachable
Any constructively helpful feedback would be most welcome from members
Thanks

Well, if you have back trouble then a fixed may be better as you don't have to keep bending/kneeling down to engage and only have to remove the cover on a fixed. watch your shins though till you get used to it being there. nice car for towing and not overkill as will be more stable on the road .

We have you twin, the Kia Sorento and it's great two car and we have a debatable tow bar, it is a little fiddly to put it on and off and agree with above. The actual part that is detectable is quite heavy too. Suggest you try one somehow?

you trying playing teacher again, didn't realise you were the spelling police? Oh well if you can't contribute anything to a discussion but cause trouble I suppose it's better than nothing MM?
Actually the words are spelled correctly, just not the right words.

Thanks to everyone for your replies
I have decided to fit a fixed tow bar which, given my ongoing back problems, will be easier for me to work with, so off to the local sportswear shop for some shinpads

I have never had a detachable tow bar in nearly 40 years of towing and with arthritis in my spine and elsewhere now is not the time for me to start
My neighbour has a detachable and has to get his wife to fit it as it is difficult for him to get down to it

My neighbour has a detachable and has to get his wife to fit it ...
Another reason to get a detachable one then?

I have had fixed towbars for over 40 years and have never (yet) caught my shin.In later years with a 7 seater Sorento I have found that the ball makes a good step if I need to reach the front end of the boot space (big boot and short person!)

No need to use offensive language to get your point across is there MM?

interesting viewpoint, for you offensive is OK outside the classroom?

Now that I do find both offensive and unnecessary.
No need to turn it into a full scale argument with personal comments, LL.

We have a 66 Reg Santa Fe Wiggins bought new. It was a limited edition, premium SE plus extras, and a very good deal.
It is an excellent towcar and very pleasant to drive. Thee is plenty of power with reasonable economy. It has been extremely reliable.
We have a fixed towbar which is fine. Our previous Sorento had a removable one which was a fiddle to fit or remove,so it tended to be left on.
We tow a Bailey Unicorn Cadiz with ours which is no problem at 1400kg max!
Ours has heated steering wheel and heated or cooled seats which are great! Lots of other toys such as sunroof satnav hid lights etc.
Ours has self levelling suspension which is useful towing.
Hope you enjoy it!

I do like all the 'toys' on the Santa Fe/Sorento (the all round cameras and self park are my fav), which literally would add tens of thousands of pounds on other cars

Hi All
picked up my " new to me" Hyundai Santa Fe with new swan neck fixed tow bar fitted. Very pleased with it and so is my back, The high driving position is good for me and the seat is so comfortable
Had it hooked up to the van and pulls very well, self levelling suspension is new to me but works a treat.
Looking forward to going to York with it soon, for a few days and sampling the delights of York Brewery "pint of Guzzler please"
